The best romanian footballer of all time (IMO). Unlucky to live and work in the most inhumane communistic regime, that of Romania. Made his debut in the first league at 14, played almost his entire career for his home town club (FC Arges Pitesti). Despite the pressure from the Minister of Interior refused several times to move to Dinamo Bukarest. Was refused by the communists (Nicolae Ceausescu in particular) a move to Real Madrid. Although incredibly gifted he had a huge problem - alcohol and cigarettes. His style of play was something akin to that of Johann Cruyff.
