MINSK – President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) Zeljko Sertic is visiting Belarus together with Serbia’s delegation and on Tuesday he stated that Belarus companies are interested in investing in Serbia and a joint presentation on third markets.

Belarus is interested in investing in the Serbian market so that Serbia could export to the EU, Turkey and other world countries with which it has signed free trade agreements, Sertic told Tanjug.

He noted that the talks are underway between Belarus companies and 14 Oktobar company from Krusevac, Kraljevo Rail Car Factory and several road maintenance companies from Serbia.

Belarus preserved its machine industry and it has a major steel complex, is interested in cooperating with Serbia’s companies, Sertic said.

The 7th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Serbia and Belarus began in Minsk on Tuesday.

The Serbian delegation is headed by Minister of Regional Cooperation and Local Self-Government and the most important issues and the directions of economic cooperation will be discussed.

According to Sertic, the two countries’ exchange totalled EUR 170 million and it should be increased to EUR 500 million in the next two or three years.

Sertic said that Serbian companies can enter the Russian market through Belarus because Belarus has an exceptional trade network in Russia, and noted that the two countries can make a breakthrough on the markets through joint investments.

There is room for cooperation in agriculture, machine industry, energy and other sectors, he said.

The PKS president said that it is positive that the direct flight from Minsk to Belgrade opened because it would contribute to a faster flow of goods, development of tourism and trade and an increased number of visits by businessmen.
