The Prime Minister helped to celebrate Black History Month at a Downing Street reception this evening.
The event was attended by prominent members of the black community including Baroness Amos, fashion designer Ozwald Boateng and entrepreneur Levi Roots.

Guests were celebrating Black History Month which is running throughout October to promote knowledge of black history, culture and heritage.
In a message the PM wrote that Modern Britain is stronger because of the “contributions made by our diverse ethnic communities”.
He wrote:
“From members of the Government to inspirational school heads, pioneering business people to stars of the arts, in every single walk of life you find people of African or Afro-Caribbean descent making an amazing difference to Britain.”

Police are hunting an illegal immigrant wanted in connection with an alleged rape in Wallingford.

Michael Buka, 31 – also known as Michael Kiberu - met a woman in a club in Oxford and went with her to a flat in Wallingford, where he attacked her on August 31.

Dc Stephen Knight said: “The photo was taken in the Lava and Ignite nightclub on the evening the alleged incident took place.

“Buka is an illegal immigrant and following a number of lines of inquiries and a detailed investigation, his whereabouts remain unknown.”

London: Congolese Mugger Laughs as he is Jailed for Attacks on 13 Women

A mugger who robbed 13 women including six with children and one who was pregnant has been jailed indefinitely.

Selemani Muboyayi, 29, admitted preying on his victims as they were "easy targets" and "men would fight back".

The Congolese crack cocaine addict laughed when his sentence was passed. He has a string of previous convictions for robbery and must serve 40 months before he can apply to a parole board for release.

Muboyayi struck in the Broadway Market and Mare Street area of Hackney, between December last year and March. He punched Richlove Johnson to the floor and tipped over the pram carrying her 10-month-old child on 30December last year.

Walsall: Teen Brutally Attacked by 4 Mulattos

A TEENAGE boy has been assaulted outside a Black Country college.

On arrival at the scene, officers found a 16-year-old boy collapsed in the street. He had been assaulted during an incident involving around four youths, and sustained a head injury.

He was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

All four males involved are described as being of mixed race, in their late teens to early 20s and of slim build.

Bury: Invader Charged with Raping Woman in Toilets

A man has been charged in connection with the attempted rape of a woman in Bury.

Anestis Soumelidis, 27, of Kitchener Street appeared at Bury Magistrates' Court yesterday and has been remanded in custody.

The alleged attack is said to have occurred on Sunday in the toilets of the Wellington Public House in Bury.

A 25-year-old woman was said to have been approached by a man who grabbed her by the throat and hair and attempted to rape her.

British Transport Police (BTP) detectives have issued cctv images in connection with an ongoing investigation into a sexual assault on board a Stansted Express train between Tottenham Hale and Liverpool Street stations.

The female victim was travelling on a train at around 9.40pm on Friday 7 August when she was approached by a black male.

The male then proceeded to make suggestive remarks towards her before touching her indecently.

The suspect is described as a black male, aged between 17 and 24, around 5'8 tall and of slim build.

Hendon: Arrest warrant issued for African who Killed Puppy

AN ARREST warrant has been issued for a man who beat a puppy to death in his Hendon home after he failed to appear at court today.

Andrew Ajimoko, 29, was due to be sentenced at Hendon Magistrates Court today for killing the five-month-old dog with a blunt object then dumping its body in a bin.

The court was told he had also missed two probation meetings since his last appearance on September 19, when his sentencing was delayed because postal strikes had delayed key documents.

He admitted killing the puppy at his then home in Glebe Crescent at a hearing on August 20, and the court heard how it had suffered “substantial injuries”, including haemorrhaging in the skull, a swollen face and massive bruising.

Peterborough: Locals in Shock as Savage Gang Attack puts Kids in hospital

A SAVAGE and unprovoked attack which saw four innocent teenagers hospitalised and a young girl assaulted has left a community in shock.

In a violent encounter that lasted almost 10 minutes, a group of friends were brutally set upon by a seven-strong gang in the grounds of Ken Stimpson School, alongside the Werrington Centre shopping centre at Werrington, Peterborough.

Northampton: Arrogant Black Sex Attacker Jailed

A "self-righteous and arrogant" sex pest who assaulted two women on a night out in Daventry has been jailed.

Leon Henry, aged 35, asked to join a group of women who were out drinking at the Dunn Cow in Brook Street, Daventry on December 29 last year.

A jury heard how he walked after them and grabbed a woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, by her belt at the back of her trousers as she tried to walk off.

As she screamed and managed to get away from him, Henry grabbed a 16-year-old girl and forced his hand down the front of her trousers and into her knickers.

Henry, now of Knatchbull Road, Brixton, south London has a long history of offending with previous convictions for violence and drug dealing.

Croydon: Eight 'Youths' Attack Police Officer

Police were involved in a violent clash outside a Croydon town centre pupil referral unit (PRU) when a fight got out of control just before midday.

One officer was attacked by up to eight youths when police were called to Croydon High Street this morning, witnesses say.

Police were called and witnesses say one officer was on the floor with up to eight youths kicking and punching him.

The pupil referral unit is set up and run to provide education for children with behavioural problems who cannot attend mainstream schools.

Albino Serrao, owner of Galicia tapas bar, saw the fight. He said: "When it was going on the policeman engaged the youths then most of the youths were on top of the policeman hitting, kicking him and punching him. A rising rapper plotted to murder his 15-year-old pregnant ex-girlfriend with the help of a fellow musician, a court heard.

Brandon Jolie, who recently recorded a track for sportswear giant Nike, allegedly schemed with Kingsley Ogundele.

The 19-year-olds then put the plan into action with 'cold-eyed and unnerving calculation' three weeks later, the jury was told.

Jolie, whose records under the name Maniac have featured in EastEnders and British film Adulthood, lured the 24-week pregnant girl to a secluded canal path in Islington, north London, in November, where Ogundele was lying in wait, the court heard.

Leighton Buzzard: Negro Pair Jailed for Brutal Alley Rape

A CONMAN was jailed yesterday after setting up a bogus refugee charity in Plymouth – then spending all the proceeds on himself.

Kanyogota Sejojo, 40, launched the Devon African Refugee Community Association to raise cash for asylum seekers.

Sejojo came to Britain from Rwanda in the late 1990s and set up the “charity” which he claimed would help those in a similar position.

The court heard how he swindled more than £18,000 in just over a year between 2003 and 2004, including £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund and £2,750 from Children in Need.

He also received £5,900 from the Devon Community Foundation Local Network Fund, which he spent to subsidise his own lavish lifestyle.

Fort Pierce's 12 News has reported in an article, "Woman arrested after calling 911 to report McDonalds out of Chicken McNuggets," that Latreasa Goodman, 27, was arrested because she called 911 not once but three times to tell them McDonalds was out of McNuggets.

As we dig into this bizarre story a little deeper we find that Ms. Goodman ordered a six-piece McNugget and fries. She then paid for the food. She was then advised that there were no McNuggets. She told the clerk that she would take a McDouble but she wanted a refund of the difference in cost between said McNuggets and the McDouble sandwich.

At that point she was advised she would have to order some food for the difference in cost. Then Ms. Goodman said just forget it, she wanted a full refund. The clerk said she couldn't do it.

It was at that time that Goodman called 911 and complained to them that McDonalds was out of McNuggets and was mistreating her. Actually she called three times.

Finally, an officer was sent. However, the net result was Latreasa was arrested for abusing the 911 line when there was no real emergency.

Who was in the wrong? Let me put it this way: "Nobody was in the right."

McDonald's policy when they cannot fill an order is to provide a complete refund and provide a free "meal."

Of course it is not hard to see why Latrease Goodman was arrested. She used a line for a very unimportant matter when lives could have been at stake. There was no crime going on.

As you would expect, the issue is now being handled in a most adult way. McDonalds has offered the food and refund after the hullabaloo and Goodman has rejected the offer citing the fact she has sought legal help and may sue McDonalds.

Police investigating the disappearance of a teenage girl allegedly 'chopped up' for kebab meat have been criticised for a catalogue of failures which led to the collapse of a murder retrial.
An independent review found that police surveillance techniques were 'handled poorly and unprofessionally' and as a result nobody is now likely to be convicted of killing Charlene Downes, 14, who was last seen in 2003.

Her mother today said she felt 'badly let down' after the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) recommended that seven officers should be disciplined over the matter.

Charlene was last seen on November 1, 2003 when she kissed her mother goodbye and went to see friends on Blackpool Promenade.

Two men appeared at Preston Crown Court in 2007 in connection with her alleged murder but the jury was discharged after it failed to reach verdicts.

The prosecution claimed the murder suspect was overheard talking about having sex with the teenager and that she had 'gone into kebabs'.
A retrial was scheduled to begin a year later but the Crown Prosecution eventually dropped the case because it had 'grave doubts' about the reliability of some of the evidence.
Iyad Albattikhi, 31, was formally cleared of Charlene's murder and Mohammed Raveshi, 51, was acquitted of helping to dispose of her body.
Charlene's mother, Karen Downes, of Blackpool, said she was 'devastated' at the findings of the police watchdog.
'We feel badly let down by the police and the Crown Prosecution Service,' she said.

'I was devastated when I saw the report. It's very upsetting.'
Lancashire Police apologised to the Downes family but said it remained a live investigation and its officers were still committed to solving the case.

The investigating team were guilty of a strategic and tactical failure in the management of the audio and video material they obtained, the IPCC concluded.
Proper records were not kept, material was not fully transcribed and the overall integrity of the material was not ensured.

The use of untrained and inexperienced officers in the inquiry was also criticised as was the way a human intelligence source was handled.
The IPCC recommended that one officer should face a disciplinary hearing, one should receive a written warning and five others should receive words of advice.

Two other officers who retired prior to the investigation cannot be considered for disciplinary sanctions. It has been recommended that the current role of another officer who retired during the investigation, but was then re-employed in a civilian capacity, be considered.
Assistant Chief Constable for Lancashire Police, Andy Cooke, said he acknowledged the findings.
He said: 'It is clear that certain aspects of the case have not been well managed - specifically during the time prior to the trial - and for this we must certainly apologise to the Downes family.
'I want to reassure them and our local communities that we have learned the lessons from this and have moved on quickly in terms of the handling of such information.'

Naseem Malik, IPCC Commissioner for the North West, said: 'What is abundantly clear is that the covert surveillance aspect of Lancashire Constabulary's investigation into Charlene's disappearance was handled poorly and unprofessionally.

'The IPCC's managed investigation has identified a catalogue of errors which undermined the court case.'

The prosecution in the 2007 trial alleged that Jordanian immigrant Mr Albattikhi, who owned Funny Boyz fast food shop in Blackpool, strangled the teenager after having sex with her.

The court heard Charlene was one of a number of young white girls who gravitated to the resort's fast food shops to have sex with older men.
Expelled from school, she spent her time hanging around the shops on the promenade.

Prosecutors claimed either Mr Albattikhi, known as Eddie, or his Iranian landlord and business partner, Mr Raveshi, was having underage sex with her and they would be in trouble if the police found out.

Both men denied even knowing her.

Police started a murder inquiry when David Cassidy, a former friend of Mr Albattikhi, said the accused's brother had told him the schoolgirl had been strangled and chopped up.
Detectives later bugged both Mr Raveshi's home and car with secret listening devices and claimed the defendants could be heard on the tapes discussing her murder, with references to eating her body and a burial place.

Det Sgt Jan Beasant spent two years and around 2,500 hours listening to the contents of the tapes but such was the poor sound quality that much of the content was hard to decipher at the trial with sound experts and police disagreeing over what was actually said.

John Bromley-Davenport QC, defending Mr Raveshi, claimed Det Sgt Beasant was totally unqualified for the task of listening to the tapes and already knew a huge amount about the case.
Ian Goldrein QC, representing Mr Albattikhi, accused Mr Cassidy of telling a pack of lies and that his evidence was unreliable because he had a lengthy criminal record for dishonesty.
The jury of seven men and five women deliberated for 49 hours before they conceded they could not reach a verdict on either defendant.

On his release Mr Raveshi, who like Mr Albattikhi spent two-and-a-half years on remand in jail, said the case against him was 'shameful' and indicated he would sue police.

TEARFUL blue eyes peer out defiantly from behind the mask helping to hold her ravaged face intact.

Her once beautiful face melted beyond recognition, acid attack victim Katie Piper steels herself to tell her chilling story for the first time.
Because the girl who not long ago was a budding TV presenter is determined that the brutal ex-lover who destroyed her good looks must know he has FAILED to destroy her life.

Evil Danny Lynch had already brutally RAPED Katie, kept her PRISONER and BATTERED her before he decided he wanted to spoil her beauty forever - and sent a henchman to hurl SULPHURIC ACID in her face.
But after 34 gruelling operations to heal her wounds both inside and out - including a WORLD FIRST graft involving a skin substitute - Katie (whom you can see on video below) tells the News of the World: "Danny tried to take everything from me.

"But he didn't get everything. First he stole my dignity and then he took my beautiful face away. He wanted my scars to be a permanent reminder of him - of his evil.
"But I want to show the world what he has done. And I want everyone to know he doesn't win."
In May twisted Lynch, 33, was jailed for life for what he did to Katie. And now the blonde 26-year-old has waived her right to anonimity to reveal her 17-month life-changing ordeal in harrowing and graphic detail:
ON HER RAPE: "He held me down against the bed by the back of my neck and was squeezing the pressure points. I thought he was going to kill me. He'd already started to rape me."

ON THE ACID ATTACK: "I could feel my face melting as the acid ate away at my skin. It was seeping into my throat and down my chest. I started thinking, 'Have I died?'"

Battle

ON HER INJURIES: "I looked in the mirror and was so angry. I wanted to know where my face was so I could go pick it up, put it back on and head straight back to my old life."
Katie had no inkling of the nightmare ahead when she met Lynch on Facebook in March last year.
She was working part-time as a ring girl for martial arts battle events - as well as modelling for catalogues and breaking into TV as a host on cable channels.

"I thought he was good looking," she said. "We talked about martial arts. I was due to be working at a fight on the weekend in Reading and he told me he would try to be in the audience.
"I spotted him in the front row and he came to a party afterwards where we chatted and he bought me a drink.
"We spent a few days messaging back and forth and I finally sent him my number. We decided to meet up for a night out.
"He brought me flowers and a teddy bear. He almost seemed in awe to be dating me - which I found strange but flattering at first."
Steroid addict Lynch, 6ft 4in, was soon infatuated with his girlfriend. Katie says: "There should have been alarm bells. My friends would joke 'He's your stalker'. But I liked how devoted he was. And I liked his athletic body.

"But it began to become clear to me that he was unhinged and jealous of virtually any man I spoke to. I began to think how I could ease him out of my life."
Then came the night of the rape. They were in a room at the Ramada hotel in London's Bayswater. Katie refused him sex and Lynch exploded with rage. "He pushed me back and I hit my head hard on a photo frame which knocked me unconscious," she says. "I came to with him straddling my neck and hitting my face.

"He pulled me to my feet in a headlock and dragged me into the bathroom. Blood was squirting out the back of my head. He put me in the bath and then started shouting, 'You can't just walk away from me'.
"I was begging him to get me dressed and take me to the hospital. Instead he told me to lie on the bed. I tried to fight back. But he held me down as he raped me. It felt like ages.
"By the time he stopped I was in terrible pain." Lynch kept Katie a prisoner for EIGHT HOURS, kicking and battering her. "He was ranting about how he hated me. I was sure he was going to kill me. He kept hitting my back and neck and legs."

At one point he held a razor to her face in the bathroom. "All I could think was, 'Please, not my face'," she says. "He even used my belt to tie a noose from a door hinge and said he was going to hang me."
She calmed him down and they left the hotel - but he forced her to drive him around London all day before finally setting her free.
Katie didn't go to the police because she was so terrified of reprisals. But Lynch bombarded her with texts and calls as she stayed holed up in her flat.
"It was mental torture. I was hoping he would get bored and leave me alone," she says. But Lynch was lurking across the street waiting to flush her out. And he had bullied pal Stefan Sylvestre, 21, into carrying out the acid attack.
Katie's internet connection went down in the flat and Lynch phoned her insisting she went across the street to an internet cafe to read a message he had left her.

Pounced

Then he watched as she left the building and Sylvestre - in a hoodie and carrying a cup of sulphuric acid - pounced.
"The pain was almost indescribable," says Katie. "At first I thought, 'How rude, that guy has just thrown hot coffee all over me.' But it was so painful and my clothes started to evaporate.
"In one of Danny's calls the night before he'd told me he'd got a present for me that would change my life forever. So I knew instantly he was behind it.
"The pain was so bad I didn't think I was going to live. I knew my face was falling off, I could feel it evaporating. I banged on a restaurant window, my hands burning. They must have thought I was drunk because they locked their doors. I remember hearing this horrible screaming, and I thought 'I wish that would stop', and then I realised it was me. Then I remember hearing voices - it must have been doctors and nurses - but I couldn't see anything, so I thought I was in heaven."

The acid caused third degree burns to Katie's face, neck, chest, upper arms, wrists and hands and left her blind in one eye. It also caused severe damage to her respiratory system when she swallowed acid while screaming.
As she battled the agony Katie could only communicate with her parents, David, 60, and Diane, 58, through written notes. Her first said "Am I dead?" and in another she wrote "Kill Me".
Doctors then began rebuilding Katie's ravaged features - and her surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Mohammad Ali Jawad, carried out a world-first op on her.

He removed Katie's entire face and used a skin substitute, Matriderm, as a foundation for grafts from her lower back and thighs. Then she was kept in a drug-induced coma for 12 days.
She recalls her horror the first time she was allowed to look at herself in a mirror six weeks after the attack.
"At first glance I thought there was something wrong with the mirror," she says. "I had no eyelids and no hair.
"I remember thinking I don't look like a woman. I thought 'I look like Freddy Krueger'. I wanted to smash the mirror against my face." Bigger challenges were ahead as Katie returned to her childhood home to be cared for by her parents - and to await her attackers' trial. Lynch, from Shepherd's Bush, west London, was given two life sentences, to serve a minimum of 16 years, for the rape and the acid attack. Sylvestre, also from Shepherd's Bush, must serve at least six for the acid attack.

Relieved

Judge Nicholas Browne told them: "The victim had a face of pure beauty. You two represent the face of pure evil."
Katie says: "I was so relieved when it was finally over. I felt like I could finally attempt to put that part of it behind me and get on with my life."
Because she had internal burns, Katie needed nearly 30 operations to repair her gullet and nostrils.
But the ground- breaking surgery on her face worked well and, combined with successful use of her plastic mask, Katie has been able to restore her features.

She must wear the mask for two years, 23 hours a day, as it flattens out any lumps and keeps in moisture. Earlier this year, she met Paddington rail crash survivor Pam Warren who also had to wear a facial mask for 18 months during her recovery. Katie says: "She looks amazing now. It gave me hope. It was really inspiring to meet her."
Last spring, Katie was filmed for three months for a Cutting Edge documentary about her ordeal. She credits the filming and support of her family and her surgeon Mr Jawad for getting her to a point where she is strong enough to come to terms with what happened.
"Although I have been scarred for life I am extremely happy with my new beautiful face," she says. "I look at old pictures of myself now and see her as a girl I spent loads of time with," says Katie. "It's like she was a best friend I'll never see again.
"But I am happy now. I laugh and smile every day. And thanks to the wonderful people around me I am going to be OK."

A 17-year-old youth has been arrested in connection with a serious sex assault on a woman aged 22 outside a Newport nightclub, say Gwent Police.
The assault is alleged to have happened outside the city centre Fire and Ice club in the early hours of Saturday.
Officers said the woman reported she had been approached by a man, who it is believed later attacked her in Bailey Street, a short distance from the club.
The arrested teenager is from the Newport area, officers said.
The victim of the attack is receiving continuing support from specialist Gwent Police officers.
Det Ch Insp Ian Roberts, who is leading the investigation. said this kind of incident was rare in Newport.

"We have strong links with licensees and retailers who work very closely with our officers to ensure people have as safe a night as they possibly can," he said.
"However, we are investigating a serious incident and we need information from the public to assist us in solving this case.
"We are appealing for anyone who might have seen any suspicious activity in the area of Bailey Street between 3am and 5am on Saturday morning to come forward as they might hold vital information that could assist our investigation.
Mr Roberts said anyone with information can approach officers patrolling the area and speak to them, call police on 101, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

TWO young Asian men were yesterday (Thurs) locked up for an unprovoked attack on a white man walking home through Savile Town.

Supporters shouted abuse at the judge as Sohail Hussain, 19, and 20-year-old Ali Mushtaq were sent to a young offenders’ institution.

Hussain, who was armed with a knuckle duster, attacked Robert Dyson in Savile Road on October 23 last year.

A racial motive was ruled out by the court because the attackers were too drunk to know what they were doing.

As Judge James Spencer QC sentenced Hussain to three-and-a-half years and Mushtaq to 12 months, supporters started kicking their feet against wooden benches in the public gallery at Leeds Crown Court.

One man banged his fists repeatedly on a table and a woman stood up and shouted: “This is not justice, this is bull****.”

The supporters then fled court, some in tears.

Hussain, of Headfield Road, Savile Town, admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent and carrying a knuckle duster.

Mushtaq, who is from Huddersfield, pleaded guilty to GBH without intent.

Chris Aspinall, prosecuting, said Mr Dyson was set upon in an unprovoked attack as he walked home.

He suffered one-inch cuts to his nose and left ear which needed stitches.

Mr Aspinall told the court the attack was not racially-motivated because the accused were too drunk.

Anastasi Tasou, for Hussain, and Andrew Dalton, for Mushtaq, argued for community sentences and said their clients would pay Mr Dyson compensation.

But Judge Spencer said: “This was an offence so serious that this court cannot overlook it.”

The judge told Hussain and Mustaq: “You have perpetrated a violent attack but your precise motivation is not known because the prosecution accepts it was not racially-motivated due to the quantity of drink consumed.”

On Hussain, Judge Spencer added: “It is possible you were trying to show off to some girls in a nearby park.

“But the fact that you had gone out armed with a knuckle duster shows you intended to commit violence.”HAHAHA!!!!! "Sorry Mr Judge man. I didn't mean to rape that slut, but I was drunk and didn't know what I was doing. HAHAHAHA!!! Mr Dyson carried on home and when he saw the damage in the mirror called a taxi and went to Dewsbury District Hospital.

It was thought he may need plastic surgery and he was transferred to Pinderfields at Wakefield where his wounds were stitched.

A north London teenager has been missing since Tuesday, after meeting a man she met on Facebook.
Demi Wright, 15, described as 'naive' by her mother, has a heart condition requiring daily medication, but she has not been heard from since she travelled across London to meet the self-styled gangster going by the name 'Sefa'.
Her mother, Johanna Shaw, 40, said she had discovered sexually explicit messages that the pair had traded, as well as a comment on MSN messenger from Sefa bragging that he had almost been shot while with his gang.

Demi's Oyster card record shows its last use being for a trip from Winchmore School towards Brixton.
'It's a nightmare, this is completely out of character,' Ms Shaw told The Sun.
'Demi is so trusting, naive and immature and she's been lured away by someone on the internet.
'I'd have sworn she'd never have done this,' she added.

The case bears striking resemblance to that of 17-year-old Ashleigh Hall, who was killed by a predator in his 30s who won her trust on Facebook by pretending to be a good looking teenage boy.
Ms Shaw had discussed the case with her daughter in an effort to stop her using the social networking site.

She said the sexual nature of Demi's messages had surprised her.
'There was some serious sexual stuff which surprised me because Demi's quite immature. She played along with things he was saying.

Police are exploring 'the possibility that Demi had met with someone she's met on the internet'. A spokesman said she had communicated with Sefa through Facebook and MSN chat.

A TEENAGER needed hospital treatment after he and two friends were attacked by a gang of around 20 Asian youths.

James Howard (14) had his head stamped on and suffered a broken nose, two black eyes, and cuts to his head, arms and hands, in the attack shortly after 7pm on Sunday. His two friends, aged 14 and 23, were also taken to hospital, where they were treated for facial cuts and abrasions.

The injured teenager’s mother, Angela, said: “James was battered senseless. They stamped on his head and he is an absolute mess.

“He looks like he’s gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson and he’s absolutely devastated. It’s frightened him to death and I don’t think he’ll ever go out again.”

The incident happened in Victoria Street, Chadderton, as James rode his bike home from a local newsagents, flanked by his two friends on foot.

Mrs Howard (34), said the attackers made racist comments and left footprints on her son’s head and back, and stole his bike, his mobile telephone and his shoes.

She said: “They could have killed my son. If I thought my child was capable of doing something like this I would take them to the police myself.”

The family have lived in Chadderton for 16 years, and Mrs Howard and her husband, Joe, also have two other children, aged eight and 12.

A shopkeeper took the boys in, and James called his father, who took the three straight to the Royal Oldham Hospital.

Doctors wanted to keep James in overnight, but the shocked youngster wanted to go home to be with his family.

She said: “He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The people who attacked him are not children and something needs to be done before something goes drastically wrong in Oldham.”

The youths were all aged around 20.

Police said they confronted then chased James and his friends, and a fight broke out when they caught up.

They said one of the offenders was heard to make a racist remark.

A YOUNG dad has been scarred for life after racist thugs slashed his face as his five-year-old son watched in terror.
Doctors said Reece Johnson would have died if the wound been just a couple of millimetres longer.
He was walking past the entrance to Bobby Heywood Park, in Great Lever, with his son and a friend when he was targeted by a mob of 20 thugs.
The 23-year-old, who was returning home from Blackpool after a day out with pals, said the Asian gang claimed to be avenging the murder of a 19- year-old in the same park in November, 2007.

To be historically consistent, "Asian" would be a West Asian (aka a Middle Easterner), which is what the term originally meant during Greco-Roman times.
"Muslim sandnigger" is more to my liking, as these are usually the thugs who one is likely to find in the UK and other nations causing trouble over on the eastern side of the Atlantic pond. It could be a Somali or a Pakistani, but they'll both be Muslim sandniggers.

AN imam invited from Libya (http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/topics/place/libya) to preach in Bristol (http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/topics/place/bristol) has been jailed after pleading guilty to indecently exposing himself in the city centre. Bristol magistrates heard Abrahim Ghait, a young imam celebrated for his knowledge of the Koran, exposed himself to a 28-year-old woman in Castle Park as she made her way home from the gym.
He also admitted an allegation that he showed a 12-year-old girl in the park his genitals in a separate incident.

Magistrates sent the 25-year-old, who had come to Britain (http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/topics/place/britain) on a visit to preach during the Muslim festival Ramadan, to prison for six weeks.
But his friend Mohamed El Haddad, the head of the UK Arabic Society which invited the imam to Bristol, said he believed Ghait had only pleaded guilty in the hope that he would get a non-custodial sentence, which would have allowed him to go home to Libya where he had urgent business.
Mr El Haddad said there was no way the imam would have committed the acts, and that it would destroy his future and reputation.
Magistrates were told that Ghait is a famous imam in Libya, lauded for having memorised the entire Koran by the time he was 17 and being able to recite lengthy passages from memory.

They were told that he had been sponsored by the Bristol-based UK Arabic Society to come to the UK and preach at mosques in the city during Ramadan.
Ghait was staying at a flat on Croydon Street in Easton when the incidents happened.

It was alleged she saw Ghait standing behind a bin near a footbridge, and as she walked towards him he stepped out, trousers down and exposing himself. The court was told that despite there being young children nearby he looked at the woman, then down to his exposed groin which he was holding, and then back to the woman, before she walked off and called the police.
Three days later, on August 16, it was alleged he performed a similar act in front of a 12-year-old girl.

The court heard that although Ghait could only speak Arabic, it was claimed he told the girl his genitalia was named "Lexie".
He was later arrested.
Ghait then appeared before magistrates at a hearing intended to vary his bail application before the case went to trial. But instead he pleaded guilty to two charges under the Sexual Offences Act, of exposing his genitals with intention that someone would see them and be caused alarm or distress.

Sue Cameron, defending, said that Ghait had been through a huge culture shock in coming to the UK, and that he was from a very isolated background in the Libyan desert and didn't really know much about the world. :lie:
The court was told that Ghait was very concerned about people in Libya finding out.

His defence also argued that he had extremely bad piles and was due to have surgery at home. (I'll do it with a pair of tweezers if he likes)
Magistrates jailed Ghait for six weeks on each charge, with the sentences served at the same time.
He was also put on the Sex Offender Register for seven years.
Ghait was invited to Bristol through the UK Arabic Society to lead prayers during Ramadan for the Somali Muslim community at the St Paul's Settlement community centre on City Road.

Mr El Haddad and Mrs Cameron told the Evening Post that when Ghait first appeared before magistrates in Bristol on September 2, the bench had strongly indicated that a custodial sentence was unlikely.
Mr El Haddad said Ghait had only pleaded guilty to avoid having to wait in the UK for a trial, which had been due to take place in November, and in the hope of receiving a suspended sentence so he would not have to explain why he was away for so long. He also wanted to get back for his brother's wedding and to study for a masters degree.

Mr El Haddad added: "The situation is unacceptable and I don't believe he did it.
"He only pleaded guilty because he wasn't expecting to go to prison, and because of the pressure on him to go back home quickly.
"There is no way that he would have done something like this. Do you think that a leader of a church would harm its community?

A MOTHER and father left a pub covered in blood after they were attacked in front of their two young children.

The mother was punched in the face and slashed with a broken bottle after an argument at The Harvester, in Beulah Hill, Upper Norwood.

When the father stepped in to protect her, he was smashed over the head with a bottle.

The couple also claim their children, aged just 6 and 9, were racially abused.

The family, whose identity we have agreed to protect, is asking for help to catch their assailants.

"I can't sleep at night because I feel like my children are at risk that these people might come back," said the mother.

"Someone must know who these people are, so I would just plead with them to go to the police with any information they have.

"I just want to know my family is safe."

The family, who are from the Coulsdon area, went into the Harvester pub Beulah Spa at about 6.15pm on November 13.

They had just sat down when a group of five people came in.

The mother said a woman started the confrontation by suggesting she was looking at her.

When the father tried to defuse the situation, the others in the group began hurling racist abuse, even calling the couple's six-year-old a "white devil".

"It all happened really fast," the mother said. We stood up to leave and the woman punched me in the face.

"We were struggling and someone else smashed this bottle over my head from behind, the pain was blinding."

The mother suffered two black eyes and a cut to her head, while the father was treated at Croydon University Hospital for a gash to the back of his head. He has since returned to work, but has suffered concussion, while his partner has been having panic and anxiety attacks.

"I am scared all the time and I can't think of anything else," she added.

"It was one of the worst nights of my life and I just want to put it behind me."

A police spokesman said officers are investigating the attack, but no arrests have been made.

A spokesman for Mitchell and Butlers, which owns Harvester, said: "This was an isolated yet extremely serious incident which occurred between two groups of customers.

"Our staff called the police immediately to deal with the situation, and will do everything they can to assist with any subsequent police investigation."

Also, isn't it rather hard for the public to come forward with any information if they don't know what the assailants look like?

Might be a bit of a sensitive subject, I realise, but still.

Can you imagine the outcry if the reverse had happened? Five skin heads, broken bottles, "Black Devil"?

I think cases like this amply demonstrate that the dreaded sin of racism is alive and well in Britain - and those who denounce it the loudest are the most guilty of perpetuating it.

After all, these people don't matter, they're not part of some special interest group - it's not as if society can learn any valuable lessons from this crime, is it?

Actually, perhaps it can - and perhaps that's why the media do their best to avoid stories like this where possible.

Two drunken youths who beat an innocent father-of-two to death - simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time - have been jailed for 15 and 12 years.

James Tierney had taken a shortcut home from his girlfriend's flat when he was cornered by hooded thugs Dale Duncan and Aisar Khan.

The pair challenged the 41-year-old to a fight and, when he refused, launched a savage beating.

They repeatedly hit Mr Tierney over the head with a piece of drainpipe which had been ripped from a nearby wall and, as their victim begged for mercy, they stamped on his face before he slipped into unconsciousness and they left him to die.

Mr Tierney, a tyre fitter, suffered multiple broken bones in his face, a broken voicebox and a brain haemorrhage. He was pronounced dead later in hospital.

Tests revealed it was most likely that the brain haemorrhage that killed him, but doctors said he could also have been a heart attack induced by having his voicebox crushed, or he may have drowned in his own blood.

Khan and Duncan were today convicted of murder and jailed for life. Khan must serve a minimum 15 years whilst Duncan will serve 12 years before being considered for parole.
