Bullied, attacked and racially-abused more than fifty times in eight weeks. That's the experience of two British Asian reporters posing as a couple and living undercover on a housing estate in Britain during summer 2009.
In a shocking insight into race hate and anti-social behaviour in our neighbourhoods, Tamanna Rahman was pelted with glass and stones and threatened with a brick during an attempted mugging by an eleven year-old boy. Her "husband," Amil Khan, was punched in the head. Yet the head of the Government's equality watchdog has said that having a neighbour of a different ethnic background isn't an issue any more.
Panorama investigates the truth about racism and anti-social behaviour in Britain today.

I need cheering up. I will of course be recording this and posting the programme here for those who wish to see it.

I thought multiculturalism was all rainbows and happiness?

I suppose they forgot to mention this part.

What they forget to mention is the daily racism that the indigenous people of Britain have to suffer. I wonder when their programme will be made and exposed on the BBC?

Two BBC (http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/bbc) reporters of South Asian origin who lived for eight weeks on a housing estate in Bristol, posing as a married Muslim couple with limited English, were racially abused more than 50 times, a documentary will show tonight. The edition of Panorama, titled Hate on the Doorstep, also features the pair suffering physical assault. Reporter Amil Khan, who was pretending to be a part-time painter and decorator, was punched in the head by a local man. Tamanna Rahman, who wore a hijab headscarf and acted as if she spoke very little English, was pelted with stones and glass and on one occasion an 11-year-old boy tried to steal her purse, threatening to kill her.

The programme will be shown in the week the British National Party leader, Nick Griffin, appears on BBC1's Question Time. While there was some canvassing for the party for June's European elections during the period the pair spent on the 1930s estate, a few miles from the centre of Bristol, there was no other sign of BNP activism there.
Using secret cameras, Rahman and Khan filmed themselves being abused regularly, both for their race – "Paki" was a common term of abuse – and over their religion, with a number of jibes used related to terrorism, including "Taliban" and "jihad". A good deal of the abuse on the estate is shown to come from children and teenagers, although adults are also involved.

Rahman tells the film that while the reaction to her "husband" from local people was unpredictable, she is "bullied and abused just about every time I step outside the door", an experience ranging from physical attack to muttered insults.
The programme hears from a local charity, Support Against Racist Incidents, which says that such cases are routine. Incidents it has dealt with recently include people being threatened with a knife and having eggs or water bombs thrown at their houses.

For those outside of the UK, and wish to watch it, I will get it on here as soon as I can. :)

And it was filmed in Southmead...Cor! Not surprised they got it there.

Instead of supporting the security of the UK and our democratic system a large majority of the 'hated' work against it, and they suck up to the socialists who which to disenfranchise the majority.

So taunts of 'taliban', 'Paki', 'jihad' and 'terrorist', although meaningless and stupid in many cases, do have a certain meaning as part of a constellation.

Terrorism is a largely Pakistani issue, and our native ruffians (haha) instinctively know that the the British Pakistani minority is the most hostile.

My recording software is gay. Here's a clip with good recording software by someone else, but it is only a five minute clip.

It was funny watching all the news fallout from that Panorama episode. You had Southmead drenched in film crews apparently. Everyone was wanting on tot he camera to talk about how the neighbourhood was portrayed correctly, or the estate was portrayed incorrectly, blah blah, but the funniest was the father of the boy coming forward and exclaiming his son wasn't racist as his Grandmother was black :D The rest of the report was basically the others saying how they didn't like the fact there was no houses being given to the locals and given only to the immigrants.

People have said they were only chav scum and this that and the other, but I'm actually proud of them in some way. At least these people say what others are too bloody scared to say. Some even go so far as to actually make the immigrants go away. And that is never a bad thing. :thumb001:

They got Muslims to do it delibrately-they knew that an African or Chinese couple would face a lot less hostility.

People shouldn't mistake genuine racism and hostility towards Islam and devout Muslims.

I don't see how attacking a female walking alone (whatever her religion) is something to be proud of.

True to an extent. It never ceases to amaze me to hear the halfcaste lads and the white lads/ladies who are married to halfcastes talking the same talk that goes hand in hand with the NF. It just goes to show that integration can happen when integration is fed piece by piece and not in one big wave after another.

It wasn't just any female walking down the road though. In my eyes, and to many other peoples eyes, this woman was one more foreigner; one more occupant of a house which has been denied to a local and one more female ready to procreate and add to the already burgeoning racial tension within the local area. The treatment this woman received was not particularly nice, but then racial tension never is.
