So let me see if I can get this to work.

Guess origin (dual European) and occupation of this man.

I guess he is a Portuguese/British cross and that he is probably the proprieter of an Indian restruant outside of London.

If I would have to take a completely random shot in the dark, I would say Irish/French.

As for classification, something like Keltic-Atlantid...

Correct info and you won.

He sometimes writes for the local paper here, a typical liberal and monopoly thing, so I don´t really like the guy.
But I suppose i owe him an introduction.

Aris Fioretos

Born in 1960 in Gothenburg, Sweden, to Greek and Austrian parents, Aris Fioretos studied at Stockholm, Paris, and Yale universities. Since 1991, he has published over a dozen books — novels, prose poetry, and essays. He has also edited several academic volumes and translated books by Paul Auster, Friedrich Hölderlin, and Vladimir Nabokov among others into Swedish. From 2003 to 2007, he was the counsellor of culture at the Swedish embassy in Berlin. The recepient of several prizes and awards both in Sweden and abroad — most recently from Swedish Academy, the American Academy in Berlin, and All Souls College, Oxford — Fioretos now lives and works in Stockholm and Berlin.

I´m a bit surprised by your guesses, to me he looks very "Balkan" with a twist of the Alps. Maybe you got fooled by the "western intellectual look" he picked up here in Sweden.

Call me dumb, but I just can't tell what the hint was.

Although looking at the photos, and before looking at the other replies I pegged him for a journo.
