He sometimes writes for the local paper here, a typical liberal and monopoly thing, so I don´t really like the guy.

Born in 1960 in Gothenburg, Sweden, to Greek and Austrian parents, Aris Fioretos studied at Stockholm, Paris, and Yale universities. Since 1991, he has published over a dozen books — novels, prose poetry, and essays. I´m a bit surprised by your guesses, to me he looks very "Balkan" with a twist of the Alps. Maybe you got fooled by the "western intellectual look" he picked up here in Sweden.
