do you like the most wonderful time of the year?
if yes, is it the snow? the holiday Spirit? etc.
if no, why are you a douchebag?

I love the onset of Winter. I have lived most of my life in subtropical climate, so winter is a welcome break from the sweltering heat, humidity, insects, etc. Actually mid-to-late Autumn, after the first hard freeze, is my favorite time of the year. This is when you can go in the woods, without worrying about getting eaten up by ticks and chiggers, or stepping on a snake.

It gets fucking hot here in the south-central US. Sometimes we have heat waves where the temperature rises above 100F (37.7C) every day for a month. Elderly people and others with medical conditions, often die if their air conditioning fails. We had a mild summer in 2013, but in 2012 it was getting up to 105-110F (40.5C-43.3C) on a regular basis for a few weeks.

When I lived in my native Lorraine I used to love winter, because it meant coziness surrounded by snow. And Saint-Nicolas' day.
Now that I've lived for years in Provence, I just hate it as it just means rain. Of course Christmas is an exception.

I love the winter. Everything looks better. It's emptier and more quiet outside. The too warm weather of the summer bugs my thinking process, the winter cold does the opposite for me. The cold is quite pleasant, actually. Makes me more energetic. Less bugs, etc. in the purty snow-coated woods. Best time of the year to smoke hashish.

LOL yeah, that too. Autumn is harvest time for the local outdoor-grown stuff, and often marks the end of a summer "drought" of nothing but dirt-weed. There's also something special about smoking outdoors in Winter, when it's cold and dry, like putting ice cubes in your bong I guess.

Agreed. Edited it to hashish, though, that's what I prefer the most. The weed here isn't that good, so only wiggers smoke it so they can role play. I think the cold affects your high better, too. And I like solitary walks in the cold, dark woods, usually go there to smoke it and then just walk further. It has the right mood for thinking or just simply admiring stuff.

Really? You must live in a hot part of Austria or something. I just checked temps in Vienna, and the highest was 36C in July and August.

http://www.accuweather.com/en/at/vienna/31868/july-weather/31868?monyr=7/1/2013

The hottest part of the US, temperature-wise, is the Southwestern desert, but it's a dry heat, and it cools off quickly at night. Probably the most miserable heat is along the gulf coast, enduring and humid. Texas actually has both types, depending on what part of the state you're in.

Arianiti

I feel free in spring as well. Free of cold. When temperature rises to +2 °C or so, it feels incredibly warm. But when it's an autumn or beginning of a winter and termometre shows -2 °C, you freeze.

Each Spring I experience as a revival. new start.

Our winters are the equivalent of continental climate springs, I loathe soaking rain but love the dry days when all the grasses and winter annuals sprout its when our native plants wake up after summer dormancy.

I experienced true winter last year, not two minutes walking outside in snow I fell on my ass mid-crossing.

It doesn't snow in Melbourne so winter, over here, only comprises of windy, cold, humid, hot, rainy, foggy, stormy days. There's no snow to make it fun. And the closest snow to me is a four hour drive away. So no, I do not like winter.

Lower Austria is hotter, also often there is high humidity
considering humidity actually one of the hottest regions in Europe in summer
This is not adequatly reflected by average temps.

As far as weather is concerned, where I live you pay your dues in the summer, when the daily high can be over 100F for days at a time.

The rest of the year is the payoff, when temperatures are much milder. I like winter the most. You can have a dry, sunny day when it is 35F outside, and all you need is a jacket/coat with the optimal amount of insulation. The air is nice and crisp, and you can see your breath as you walk down the street. It's great. :)

but it depends on where I live, I much prefer winter in places far away from the coast(like Vilnius).

Same. Summer where I live is way too hot; winter, way too cold. Fall and spring are much more tolerable. On the plus side, seasons here are well pronounced and that variety's nice.

Snow is exciting when it first comes around, but it gets old by the time Christmas is over, and becomes especially irritating when it turns into a dirty, sloshing, mud-tinged grainy mess as winter and spring can't make up their mind on whose turn it is.

There is something comfortable about being tucked away safely from the harshness of the world outside during winter, though. It also makes me feel more creative for some reason.

My friend you have so much to learn :P

Winter is one of the finer things in life. I especially like walking outside in the winter at night. Only thing you hear is the sound of snow crunching under your feet, perhaps the wind blowing past your ear. When you look around you, you see the snow glistening from the streetlights and the lights of Christmas decorations on emptied streets.

Aaahh peace and tranquility, what is not to like?

Fuck winter! I hate the damn cold. Is there a country where it's spring all year long.

I used to when I was younger. I enjoyed cross-country skiing, even though I was never really good at it. It was fun and it was great exercise. However, I have had a poor sense of balance since 1971, when I was run over by my own car and suffered inner ear damage. So, even in the 1970's, I fell down often while skiing. I'd just get up, brush the snow off, and go on. But, with time, it has got worse. Anyhow, it's too strenuous now. I have heart disease. So, I can't enjoy cross-country skiing any more.

I was never any good at ice skating, so there is no outdoor winter activity left for me to enjoy. Where I live, I need to drive. There isn't much in this tiny town. But, I HATE driving in ice and snow. I have got to be a rather panicky driver in my old age, probably because I know that my reactions are slower than they were. So, under the best conditions, I find driving stressful these days. in ice and/or snow, it's too nerve-wracking altogether.

That is why I take a cruise every winter, usually to the Caribbean, to escape the winter for one to two weeks. It's expensive; in fact I have used up my IRA that way, but I have little else to spend my savings on. The cruise makes the winter bearable.

with a truck its manageable especially when you have to go long distances. It sucks at 4 in the morning when you have to wake up and shovel out the drive way and then drive to work then you feel like falling asleep once you get there. I have a long drive way hahaha.

Brother, you are wrong about one thing, it's possible to believe in nothing, belief is an illusion, it's not real, once you give up that silly habit, you can live without it just fine, as a matter of fact better, because your own mind does not fuck you over like it usually does.

I love the winter except being out in a field or in the woods when its close to dark. Hunting in the winter sucks too, at least its cold enough here to go Ice fishing. How bad are the roads in Albania during the winter? seems like we miss school here or work if we get a big blizzard. Wish I had a truck or 4 wheel drive Im screwed every winter with my car it gets stuck on the road sometimes.

Authorities don't clean the roads from snow, and then the snow became ice. Thats why i like only the first day of snow.

Summer sucks.

I guess I'm a wigger then.

It depends on where you live. Some places look and feel much better in summer, like Provence and many places around the Northern Mediterranean, others look better during the winter.
Inferring something about acting "white" there is absolutely retarded.

Well, during a short stroll outdoors me and a nice girl got very excited one with each other and we engaged loving games., all was going right, but when my penis was taken out in that VERY cold air... it let me down rapidly, and there was nothing I could do to refloat my 'invincible army' :p.

I never have had that kind of problem ofc, only that sad occasion, and I wonder if the guys living in colder climates have had similar experiences, is the extreme cold compatible with having a decent and durable erection?.

We had no Winters in LA. Shit, Christmas would come and it'd be bloody 80 some-odd degrees out. No fucking thanks.

Hell no. I'd work outdoors in a heartbeat. Here people overheat the hell out of any public spaces....makes me feel like I'm gonna die. God I hate it. People act like one brush with the fresh Winter air will freaking kill them. It's such a pathetic sight to see.

I keep my windows cracked in wintertime because fresh air is actually good for a person. Hell, in Scandinavia they let their babies sleep outside in the snow in their strollers lol. Now that is cool. If someone tried to pull that over here people would go apeshit.

This is why I wish I had been born in Northern Europe lol. People there are so much hardier about the weather than your average American....

Yeah pretty much. We get the Atlantic weather. And also can get some crap from the North, from Iceland & Greenland. With High winds.

I like Mediterranean climate so I like the heat, but I hate it when it goes too hot. I can handle the cold too, but not if it's too cold (like when it snows)

Thanks to the Brits for always 'defending' continental Central Europe from most kinds of Atlantic storms, winds, rain and other crap. ;) We like that barrier. :P

I LOVE winter in the Northern Hempishpere, but I've only experienced it once. The snow is perfect, and I just love the cold so I have an excuse to cuddle, along with drinking hot chocolate, Christmas, New Year's, it's wonderful!
However, winter here is cold, humid, foggy, and overall depressing. I really dislike it. :(

I like all seasons but my favourites are probably autumn and winter. Living in a mediterranean climate, I don't really get to "suffer" from the cold, unless I go inland and on the mountains.

I haven't really experienced it for a long time. A bit of a shock to my system so far in Scotland (had one sunny week in October when I first arrived and became cold afterwards). I wouldn't say I dislike it but certain things like the dry air bother me somewhat.

I like winter sports as figure skating & skiing :). So white snowly winter is just fine. ''Right kind of one''. :snowman

Cold winter season also helps to keep nature ''cleaner'' as it kills automatically some pests, vermins, virus, bacteriums. Meaning it's not only a ''bad thing''.

Personally cold weather is not any kind of problem for me, but I do't like long dark period. Winter could be shorter, as well as autumn and spring seasons (=> longer summer). That would be just perfect :icon_yes:.

Winter is my favorite season next to automn.

Maybe I like automn so much because it annonces winter? I love the snow and to see the forest go into freezing mode. Winter makes life a bit more difficult and I love the challenge it throw at us when we get big snowstorm. (I live up north of the 50th parrallel and when it snow here, it snows!).

I hate summer with it's hot sunny days.

I hate Winter. I completed my Masters degree in Wisconsin. I lived through 50 below 0 weather. Brutal. Deadly. I also lived in New England for 12+ years. I believe I am more in danger of dying from walking on ice than from driving.

I don't understand the settlers who could've gone anywhere in the world, and they CHOSE to settle in bumblefuck Nordic tundra death-land.

I moved to Denver over Providence RI partly because I can't stand that deadly weather. The snow here comes down hard, but evaporates after 1-2 days. After seeing news of this "Bomb Cyclone" on the east coast, I don't regret my decision AT ALL. After what I've been through, I don't care if I never see another goddamned snowflake for as long as I live.

FUCK WINTER!

Try working outdoors in Winter, or even a cold factory. It isn't great.

You live in a city, then work in a cozy office. It's ok for Winter.

Working in winter is not that bad. After a few days you get used. The problem is when it gets down to -30, then most machines will work really bad. If it gets even colder they can stop working. Which I experienced while working in the industry.

I sort of agree with my grandfather who said that -15 to -20 was the ideal working temperature. Then you don't sweat and its not too cold. The cold is also especially good when you worked in the forest as he did when he was between 13 and 19. Then the trees are as easiest to bark and stuff.

He is one of many others in his generation who always biked to work no matter what the temperature was. And never missed a day of work or were sick. One of his colleagues biked 30 km to work and 30 km back home all the year.

I don't live in Sweden, so I'm not used to -30. But it's way better to work during winter than it is during the summer. I get sleepy and tired when it's way too hot. And sweating isn't good.
