some people think it is OVERcounted by including mulattos in the black category but I think it's undercounted. I have heard claims that most Brazilians identifying as black are really only about 50% African while most people who are considered mixed are even less.
Yet when I look at photos from places like Bahia, Pernambuco and even Rio and Minas Gerais, people who clearly MUST be 70%+ African look more common than I think is reported, people with strong Bantu features.
