Which of the 2 countries do you think has the best series and television shows?

I think the drama is even.
I think it depends on genre.
Britain obviously wins on comedy and period piece shows.
Americans do sci-fi and fantasy better, less inclined to go cheap or to become self conscious and hide behind campness and cheese.
Sherlock was monstrously overrated. At best it had finely realised characters in Sherlock, Moriarty and Lestrade, but the stories were just too whacky and much of the modernisation was naff.
Morse and Endeavour are great, better than American cop shows.
.. I don't really watch much TV.
I'd say American TV wins, overall, due to sheer output. More good stuff ends up on our shores. Though wokedom has killed much of it.
British TV has been rubbish for years. They made the best comedies up to the 90s (still some good ones in the 00s), then political correctness destroyed it. They still made the best documentaries up to the 00s , but they're low-brow and pc now, many of the American documentaries from HBO/PBS (not History/Discovery) are better quality. With regards to period dramas, they may still make the best of those but I would never watch them. For sci-fi, drama's and action, American shows are hands down the best and always have been, British shows of those genre's have always been poor quality.
Im not aware of many British Shows. So I dont have the comparison really. I know mostly American shows.
We all know the answer.

There's definitely a strand of American humour that revels in awkwardness, cringe and embarrassment, stuff like Larry Sanders, Frasier, Seinfeld, as you mentioned. I was fond of Cheers, as a child, and quite a few others but, I'm thinking of British pedigree here, going back to Derek & Clive, to Python, Peter Sellers, absurdism like Spike Milligan, broad humour like Carry On ... to late '90s/early '00s brilliance like Brass Eye.
For me, Britain dominates.
Keeping to recent shows, American comedies are probably better, but I tend not to watch TV much, these days.
Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father on Netflix is funny. I think some people on this forum would enjoy it. English humour but more of a travel show.
Have to be honest, most of the big money series stuff has been American.
