Personally, Ancestry DNA's results don't gel with our family history as we know it. There is one grandfather who was from Donegal but a McBride so not a true Irishman. I think liberal political correctness has some affect on these commercial tests. That is why I had to analyze my raw dna file which tends to give different results from AncestryDNA.Quote:

There is going to be some inflated Scots in a lot of people's results as they have some obvious outliers in the Scottish cluster. I think it should be fairly accurate for people from the Isles but some people might get unexpected Scottish.

My results are finally in, I am 50% Irish 50% Scottish on paper, so slightly higher Irish than I would have expected, but at least it's an improvement on LivingDNA which has me at 80% Irish I suppose. Still disappointed with my Scottish communities, I should have a couple from the Highlands as well as SW Scotland, but overall the results are not perfect but not far wrong.

Really, I should get 94% European Jewish, 6% Middle Eastern.
European Jewish has six sub-categories, all Ashkenazi: three are for Litvaks, and I am not Litvak. The other three (Germany/Low Countries, Visograd Group, West Ukraine/Moldova) all apply to me, but I only get West Ukraine, Moldova, and Eastern Romania. 50% of my ancestry comes from Western Ukraine, so, not bad, I suppose.
