The List of Indian Doctors convicted in Australia for sex offences against patients (not up to date 2011 and before)

Dr. Sabil Lal

This is not the first time an Indian Doctor is convicted in Australia on sex charges. In 2002 Dr. Sabi Lal was charged with digitally raping a patient, indecently assaulting her and then attempting to pervert the course of justice. For these charges he was given a two and a half year suspended sentence.

Dr. Suhail Durani

An Indian-born doctor Sohail Ahmad Khan Durani was convicted to two years and four months in prison for sexually assaulting a patient while working at Royal Perth hospital in 2011. He was convicted on three counts of indecently assaulting the woman by grabbing her breasts and two counts of digitally penetrating her without consent. He was eventually de registered from practising.

Dr. Arvind Balakrishnan

Dr. Arvind Balakrishnan , a doctor of Indian descent practising in Sydney was convicted for sexually assaulting a patient.

In June 1993, Dr. Arvind Balakrishnan whilst conducting a physical examination of a female patient, in his consulting rooms did the following improper or inappropriate actions –

(a) Suck on the patient’s left breast nipple for one to two minutes.

(b) While sucking on her left breast touched the patient’s right breast with his hand under her bra.


Dr. Nemalan Moodley

Moodley had been working as a GP at Gatton, Laidley and Plainlands – west of Brisbane – when he sexually assaulted his patients. He pleaded guilty to nine counts of sexually assaulting patients, aged 17 to 40 over a period of 6 years. He had been suspended from practice since 2009, based on the sexual assault charges.

Doctor Manu Gopalan


Manu Maimbilly Gopal, 39, a former employee of the Sunbury Medical Centre in O’shanassy St, accused of digitally penetrating two women for his own sexual gratification February last year , has been found guilty of raping by the Supreme court in Australia. The Supreme Court Jury found him guilty of two counts of rape after a two week trial. Justice Geoffrey Nettle remanded Gopal for a pre-sentence hearing on September 26.

There also has been a spate of sexual attacks since indians specifically punjabis have taken over the taxi industry in Australia. The following article highlights this issue.

There is a prevalence of rape in India and I'm not defending the rapists over there but a lot of it is sensationalized since rape news sells over there. There's no censor there in terms of rape related stories, whereas other nations cover up a lot of stories. A lot of it has to do with improper education, social awareness, and lack of cruel punishment. In parts of middle east rape is an automatic death penalty so such policies should be put into place by the indian government. My problem is why do you post such articles against India as if we're rapist by nature? Many rapists have 'sadistic' motivations across the globe, not just India and I could say all japanese and koreans are into pedophilia based on some of their cultural aspects but thats obviously incorrect.

Mumbai : A report by the NGO PRAJA Foundation has stated that out of all the rape cases reported in 2016 in Mumbai, the victims in 72 per cent of the cases were young girls. I have seen what you are saying, and I will confirm it's true. The usually have a strong colonial mentality, especially the Sikh and Hindu communities. Here they often look down on Amerindians and treat them in very horrible manner, and Blacks to, yet they kiss White ass lol. I kinda feel sorry for them to be honest.

Those are mostly Northern Indians usually are Punjabis, I don't know about South Indians, but they honestly seemed to keep to themselves and were very hard workers and often focused on studies or work.

Marital rape is not considered rape in india so the proportion would be higher considering all the arranged marriages. also most rapes in india are not reported so who knows the amounts of rapes.

I don't know the numbers i am just posting rape articles that are very atrocious from someone living in the west. Rarely do people gang rape in australia or pour acid of the victims or set them on fire after the deed
