The Gauls were Celtic tribes who lived predominantly in eastern and southern France. They had a complex political system involving clans run by a council of elders. A king would have much of their powers held in check by the council. Gaul tended to be politically divided and only during dangerous times such as the invasion by Julius Caesar, could the Gauls unite under a single leader like Vercingetorix. After the Roman conquest of Gaul, the land was split into provinces and people divided into 3 groups - the Belgae (the bravest and furthest from civilization), the Galli/Celts, and the Aquitani towards Spain.
Gauls practiced animism and worshopped animals. Druids presided over human or animal sacrifices in wooded groves or crude temples. The druids were key to preserving festivals and the lunar-solar calendar. Gauls would nail heads of enemies to walls or dangle them from the necks of horses to instill fear.
Well if you combined all humans on Earth and forced them to be members of a single nation called "Earthlings"
Trust me, they would all receive 1. Earthling on gedmatch results.
Serbs are orthodox slavic people, and that designation means nothing in historical context where you try to uncover your ancient ancestry.
Also Serbs became a Nation 1050 A.D. before that they didn't even exist.
Nope, it worked quite well for my grandma though.

Is your grandma Greek?
That's hilarious how you got your giagia to do a dna test
But yeah thanks for showing! I do find it interesting that Greek Islanders I guess do in fact have different ancient origins than the Greeks on the mainland. Other than dosas (who is half Pontic Greek), I'm the only Greek who has no Illyrian and/or Scythian ancestry and instead have Roman/Greek/Hitite/Minoan. Hmmm
And thanks for showing me your map, because my buddy is a quarter Chinese and it was showing his ancestry as having no Viking even though his dad is Danish which I found strange. But we can maybe blame the weird mix for the different results.

Lmao she was very excited to do the test but doesn't take the results seriously, I told her that the updated results says she's 100% Greek even though it's Greek and Balkan. She doesn't understand gedmatch.

Yep, my gedmatch results are usually quite off as well, only a few calculators are accurate.Quote:

both Schythians and Varangians (Rus') lived on these lands, these genes have been around here for a while :)
Spoiler!
Scythian-stronk. I always did find them to be ultra-cool, even as I was first reading about them, as a teenager.
