I actually started gathering yDNA/mtDNA data following your suggestion some time ago. I will use the data to update my thread on haplogroups. Can you pm me the details of this kit, so that I can check the origin?

From Lapusna county (Lapusna county = Hincesti, Leova, Cimislia, Basarabeasca)

This person is from Hincesti, but on the Northern tip, around 3km from Straseni district and just West of the Northern part of Chisinau. All of his great-grandparents were born in the same village. Very similar results to my brother's, but with significantly higher East Med. I think that some of it could go into West Med with a test that looks at more SNPs than 23andme v5.

Personal bias shouldn't affect the choice. I am on record to have said that I like K36 the most, and I actually wrote that I disliked K13 in the beginning. But having looked at multiple results and references over the years reinforced the idea that K13 is one of the best. K15 is too unstable by having similar components. The other solid choices are Dodecad K12b and K36 obv. But I have started with K13 since my first results were K13 donations from this forum. And now after a while about 25-30% of people in my database are not on GEDmatch, since I have reached out to them personally for just K13 results. It would be a waste to switch and also a lot of extra work.

Picking ten best samples from each major part of Moldavia (RO/MD) and doing updated averages for D K12b would be a good idea. The Gagauz are of course not needed.

Phenotype-wise, I'd expect my dad to be slightly more nordic and my mom souther. But well, I'm not good enough at this and I used to think that looks are directly linked to genetic makeup.

Your parents results are similar to mine. My father is 3/4 galati and 1/4 covasna while my mother is 1/2 galati and probably 1/2 suceava, her father was probably from suceava. My mother also have almost 4% of siberian in k13. She looks more southern than my dad but genetically, she seems more northem.

The bad news is that you need to create a separate account for each sample, so I am not going to bother.

Seems my combo of North+South places me comfortably in the Centre in terms of NE+NW.

While not necessarily very relevant due to generational distance, my paternal grandfather's village was founded by Romanian shepherd colonists from a previous border between Moldavia and Transylvania in the late 18th century. These Transylvanians themselves came from further West to colonize the border village. If there was a founder effect, it may have conserved some higher Western E. ancestry. Ofc, this is at most a supposition if you don't test the entire village.
