"Wrecked Russian Desertcross ATVs. || UKRAINIAN ARMY CAPTURE" || "... as Russian vehicle losses exceeded 10,000 late last year, the Kremlin bought 2,100 Desertcrosses for $17,000 apiece (from China)—and shipped them off to Ukraine. While it makes sense for Russian regiments to use the ATVs as utility vehicles in rear areas, it doesn’t make sense to load them up with infantry and add them to assault groups." It’s reckless, if not insane, to deploy an open-top, unarmored all-terrain vehicle—in essence, a heavy-duty golf cart—in combat just a quarter mile from the front line.
But two years into Russia’s wider war on Ukraine, Russian commanders are at least reckless if not not insane. Apparently this weekend, a Russian unit—possibly the 488th Motor Rifle Regiment—attacked positions held by the Ukrainian 60th Mechanized Brigade in Yampolivka, in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk Oblast.
A Russian column including what appeared to be MT-LB armored tractors and at least one T-90 tank motored west toward Yampolivka. That itself wasn’t unusual. What was unusual was what else was in the assault group.
Several Desertcross 1000-3 ATVs. The Chinese-made Desertcross is an 85-horsepower ATV. It’s the kind of thing you’d find at a construction site or on a farm. It’s not the kind of thing you’d ride into battle, as it lacks armor and weaponry.

Aleksandr Dugin — infamously known as 'Putin’s Brain' because his Eurasianist ideology has exerted a profound influence on Putin’s policies — heightened the controversy surrounding himself and flared new concerns with regard to the Russian invasion when he allegedly called for a 'genocide' to be carried out against the inhabitants of Ukraine. Dugin declared on August 23: 'Ukraine should be cleared of the idiots. Genocide of the cretins is suggested. The evil cretins are closed to the Voice of the Logos, and deadly with all their incredible stupidity. I do not believe that these are Ukrainians. Ukrainians are beautiful Slavic people. This kind of appeared out of manholes as a b*stard race.'

WASHINGTON, May 1 (Reuters) - The United States on Wednesday accused Russia of violating the international chemical weapons ban by deploying the choking agent chloropicrin against Ukrainian troops and using riot control agents 'as a method of warfare' in Ukraine.
'The use of such chemicals is not an isolated incident and is probably driven by Russian forces' desire to dislodge Ukrainian forces from fortified positions and achieve tactical gains on the battlefield,' the State Department said in a statement.

Earlier this month, Reuters reported the Ukrainian military as saying Russia has stepped up its illegal of use riot control agents as it presses its biggest advances in eastern Ukraine in more than two years.
In addition to chloropicrin, Russian forces have used grenades loaded with CS and CN gases, the Ukrainian military says. It says at least 500 Ukrainian soldiers have been treated for exposure to toxic substances and one was killed by suffocating on tear gas.
