This land is new entity. Always Westfalen was part of Saxon ethnic realm and Nordrhein was extension of Rheinland (Pfalz was different region but genetically very similar).

For me it is west-central but I understand that Creoda wanted to have dual partition. And Hessen is closer to south than north.

Looks great! Much better than current west and north German average, that's for sure. I wouldn't mind if they replaced them.

Thanks! I don't think the current West German average needs to be replaced though, it's between these two averages, so perhaps better represents some Central West Germans, or mixed West Germans.

And here's a new weighted German average based on the approximate populations of the thirds of Germany - S. German avg x2, NW German avg x2, E. German avg x1.

Agree, I think the current West German average is very reasonable. My mother should be about 15% English, and that's more or less what she scores using West German and English in source. Although my mother has southern German ancestry too, the larger bulk of her German ancestry is West.

The problem with Germany is that a lot of ethnic Germans in former West Germany have a parent or grandparent from Silesia, Prussia and Sudetenland. Like Teutone for example.

It's present ofcourse, but not that lot. West Germany has giant population and vast majority (excluding foreigners) is fully native to it.
East German lands always had much lower population than those in the west.

I think several million people were expelled from those lands soon after the end of WW2, so that's not a small percentage. I'm not talking out of my ass, I've heard and read many Germans mentioning such refugees in their families.
