I think they score more than me, but I am not sure tbh whitout cheeking. But they are close whitout doubt.

as i said before, the Montenegrins have a quite big east-west range.
the most western one from Plav and Cetinje has increased Atlantic and West Med(Celtic&Illyrian?) like some Croats from Dalmatia and more importantly like those ancient Delmatian/Illyrian samples. that most southeastern Montenegrin from Podgorica has less of that, and more East Med and West asian (Thracian?)

and if you draw "lines of mixing" from those Montenegrin extremes to the Belorusians, who are very probably the most similar to proto-Slavs, most Serbs end up within this "triangle".

which means that Serbs are like Montenegrins with more Slavic influence, or in other words Montenegrins are like Serbs, but for one step closer to the pre-Slavic Balkan population.

there is very little Serbian outliers plotting to the east of this line, mostly noise or some distant exotic admixtures. but there is a lot of Serbs west of the "triangle". i assumed this is a Germanic pull (red line), from many Germanic peoples which started coming to the Balkans even before Slavs.

So Serbs are mainly like Montenegrins + Slavic and Germanic influence.

and pre-Slavic Balkanians were of course even more southern than Montenegrins, they were similar to Italians and Greeks.

i just got new info, it's a mixed Serbian-Montenegrin family. those with high baltic are from Serbia, and those down south from Montenegro.

2 of those Serbian Serb outliers are academic samples and they get Montenegrins and Albanians in their matches list, and the 3rd one is a Kosovo Serb who plots far away from other Kosovo Serbs, probably has some Albanian admixture

yep. Serbs from Šumadija are very Slavic, and those from Northern Bosnia like Branimir and Ford even a bit more.

What about his matches, are they Albanians? Some Kosovo Serbs also have recent Montenegrin ancestry, like Srđan Đoković (Novak's dad). As far as I know, many settled there after the Balkan Wars.

acknowledged. in that thread where you posted your results, Hrvoje said that you originate near the Pannonian plain and that's why you're so Slavic. it seems to be the case with those guys from Šumadija too.

also those Herzegovina Croats from Grude are one step more Slavic than those new ones i found which are from a mountain village in Herzegovina. Slavs loved plains.

My neighbour was an old man from Šumadija and he looked very Slavic. Could pass for a Russian easily.

Before few days I did the same and got the same spot average for Serb

the separation lines among the Serbs are minimal and very normal N/S W/E .

There are Croats from Dalmatia who cluster with Bulgarians, so...
Bosnia is probably very genetically diverse. Lot of Montenegrin ancestry in BiH. They are from all over, especially muslims but not only them.
Enough to compare Bosniensis and Vlatko Vuković results, both Bosniaks and both very different.

I have lot of Serbian matches on gedmatch who plot with Romanians and Bulgarians, but I am not posting them because other than surnames I don't know their ancestry.

I'm not saying it's impossible, every region has outlier samples. The issue here is that we have both: a) an 'unreliable narrator' and b) results that are out of the norm
So it doesn't make sense that we rush to conclude that her mom is 'fully Bosnian Serb'.

i don't think "outliers" should be excluded. we still have very few samples to exclude any. if we would have at least 1 million tested people then it would make sense but we barely have...how may? probably a few hundreds at max..probably less. we need all the samples to be able to have a realistic view of the genetic make-up of a country...maybe with time other similar results will come but we have nothing to compare them with cose we cut them off already and those people will always end up as outliners.
an ethnicity is always chaging, today it's not the same as hundreds of years ago due to migrations and mixing. an ethnicity is in a countinuous change..we don't live in tribes anymore, we're not all blood related. we're related by other stuff today, like culture/religion, history and language. we need to find the current genetic composition of each ethnic group.

^^^^Based on this average Slovenes are like Czechs with one Albanian grandparent, or like Croats with 20% French :D

..or most moldovians are serbians in disguise :D

Agree. Very well said. For example I doubt modern Croats were identical to Croats living just 100 years ago. That can work for many other ethnicities.
