Nawawi is a very important authority of the Shafii school.
It’s part of the fiqh, that is the holy law deduced by Muslim jurists from the Quran, the Sunnah or the Sîra. The fiqh makes explicit the norms from the texts above mentioned, so that every aspect of human life would be ruled by Islamic law. Because yes, Islam is a globalising ideology, encompassing every single aspect of human life, until the way to poop.
The fiqh is part of Sunni Islam in a way that is analogous to the way the Tradition is part of Catholicism. You can’t brush aside someone like Nawawi, pillar of the Shafii legal school, it’s like brushing aside Thomas Aquinas in Catholicism, for ex.
