the genes that command phenotype are a tiny part of one's genome. for example in my group of friends that tested with 23andme, the most Balkanic one that clusters with Bulgarians/Macedonians is actually the only Russian-looking among us, while the most northern-shifted one actually has a curly scarce beard that makes him look like a jihadi if he doesn't shave, also his facial features are quite southwest Balkan/Albanian, while he plots much more northerly than the blue-eyed guy that genetically overall is southern Balkan! (all Romanians (Moldovans), all mixed with Ukrainians/Ruthenians - I am mixed most, at half, the others are at some 1/4th to 1/8th). so looks and genes do go along, but do have a certain range, i.e. a brown-eyed brunet German will still be considerably more northern genetically than a blue-eyed blond Italian, that will still be genetically southern/Mediterranean.
