It carries some general correlation to my known ancestry.

The fairly even scores of (31.6 - 31.0) between the NW Euro/English and East European, seems reflective of my known ancestry of half NW Euro British and half Central East Euro Hungarian background.
Im not certain of the meaning behind the 27.6% Italian ...perhaps the calculator uses the Italian as some midpoint model that maybe represents some combo of Balkan and south euro med ancestry.. however wouldnt think that Im 27% med so this score is hard to understand what it could mean.
I would have to know more about that particuliar Italian sample to further understand what components it may represent.

It has coherence knowing how to interpret the results, and it is useful as a comparison tool.

Oracle precision? Approximate, but acceptably valid, and much better than other similar stuff as a tool, although the references can be improved.

Very similar to my Ancestry DNA results, I'm 50% Irish 50% Scottish so I don't know if I would say the results are accurate, curiously, Baltic and Papuan always seem to show up for me too on other calculators and tests.

With using all the modern samples in G25 my results are a little different. I get a high amount of Icelandic but this population is a mix of Scandinavian and Gaelic. Still basically though my results are Irish and Scandinavian. Andian_B most likely to do with ANE.

So yes it is accurate in showing that I'm Irish. I do not have any recent Scandinavian and I'm getting fairly confident that on my paternal side I have not too distant ancestor that could have been Northern Irish or Scottish.

So for me I know the Scandinavian is not accurate. I do not get it on commercial dna tests except FTDNA. While it is quite possible Irish have some deep Scandinavian ancestry I don't think that is controversial but it isn't recent. Scandinavians are close to Irish on genetic plots so calculators will always give you a shift.

ScandinavianCelt you get a more southern pull in the calculators so they are just compensating for that by putting in North African and you also get Gujarat.

I do sometimes get a small Caucasus pull i.e. Georgian or Ossetian etc. I also get some Caucasian in the Gedmatch cals. My K36 for example.

So in short it depends on how your dna is broken down on these calculators.

Commercial dna tests such as Ancestry give you your Genetic Communties by looking at IBD sharing so they are going to be a lot more accurate with giving you the correct ancestry you have over the last 6 generations.

I think the difference between the ancestry tests and this kind of test is the time period must take into account probably an extra thousand years I'm guessing. My ancestry DNA test was accurate for the last 3 to 500 years maybe more but between 1,000 to 2,000 years ago they don't show any of that precise admixture I'm sure. I consistently show the same people groups on most of my tests going back probably 2,000 years. My father's father as I've told you before was French which I believe originated in The Basque country and in Spain over 2,000 years ago and I'm not sure where the Caucus-Balkan filtered into my lineages but the results are consistent with numerous other tests showing very similar groupings of people's that pass through those areas including typically the same Indian groups from India as well as Georgia.

I received some American Indian in relatively small proportions from both my father's parents one I believe was Arctic from Canada and the other was more Southern through the southern part of the United States from my grandmother. Some tests seem to isolate the different regions better than others to give me a more accurate picture of the native American as well as the Caucus-Balkan region people groups, but I am not quite sure which test is the most specific but a lot of the same people groups continue to show up across the board for calculators the same regions and therefore more than likely the same movement of people's into my lineages.

I'm a little bit perplexed about this calculator that I posted because the French element seems to have been absorbed into the UK and Scandinavia and shows probably some of the Southern elements that I got from my grandfather who really had an old Basque male bloodline which seems to have moved up through southwestern France into northwestern France and England a long time ago or was affected by the Britannic people which spoke Gaelic even I believe 800 years ago in northwestern France so maybe that's why they're considered Irish but I would expect some sort of French or Basque proportion on this test and I don't see any.

I think the Norwegian and Swedish genetics are often very similar in some ways but whereas the Norwegian may be mixed with more Gaelic peoples the Swedish might demonstrate more Eastern Baltic & Finnish roots so if you show some Swedish as opposed to Norwegian it might be because of your admixture with Eastern people, so they plotted it as Swedish-- I'm not sure?

This calc dont worked very well with me, compared to MyHeritage which put me as 45% Iberian and hit even where my Iberians ancestors where from this dont seen very accurate, my Genera (A Brazilian company) looked similar to this calc, 36% Euro and 16% MENA + Jew, in others models which i can be modeled as 45% Portuguese or Galician + 7% Serfadic with a good dsitance and without overfit, which its the correct.
