Choosed all Iranian individual samples vs Uzbek and Kyrgyz:

Your father is probably full Uzbek. The reason you score so much West Asian is because your Uzbek side is from Bukhara. Bukhara-Samarkand Uzbeks are largely Uzbekified Tajiks (or at least have heavy Tajik/Iranic influence). I don't have Bukharan Uzbek results, but it may be similar to those from North Afghanistan I imagine. Uzbeks & Tajiks from North Afghanistan (Kunduz, Balkh) get modeled like a Tajikistan Tajik with some extra East Asian influence and are notably distant to most Uzbeks from Uzbekistan. Also, the genetic difference between Tajiks and Uzbeks (minus some subgroups like Bukharans, etc) is very huge despite the fact that they are neighboring populations.
Since 23andMe didn't include Bukharan Uzbeks in the population references for Central Asian, you scored a lot of West Asian. Also, their Central Asian category looks very weird. They included both Afghanistan and Kazakhstan in it together and just decided to call it a day, despite the fact the two countries have nothing to do with each other. So this probably messed up their algorithm and would have played a big role in you getting a lot of West Asian.
By any chance, do you have the DNA results of someone that is fully Bukhara-Samarkand Uzbek?
Your Uzbek side is genetically very Tajik-like. I included a Tajikistani (not an official sample), combined all the Russian samples into one, and an Uzbek:
In case you're interested to see how you get modeled as without the Uzbek:Quote:

So your Central Asian side is taking some Russian for whatever reason. But your Bukharan Uzbek side could probably be modeled as 80-90% Tajikistani + 10-20% Uzbek or something like that.Quote:

The fit distance is kinda large though. Probably a proper Bukharan Uzbek sample would fix that issue.

Uzbekistan

- Fergana Region
- Samarqand Region
- Tashkent Region
I think now they have even more Uzbekistani samples, including bukharans, and still no Uzbekistan

Since 23andme doesnt have north caucasian references, here is what happens:
“I’m half North Ossetian and my results came up as 42% Western Asia (Turkish)”
When checking for your ancient (Neolithic) ancestry, it seems like you get some Natufian (Neolithic Levantine) which isn't something that really happens with other Central Asians. It seems like there's additional MENA-input into Bukhara from West Asians. I still think your Bukharan Uzbek father is typical for Uzbeks from Bukhara, so whatever applies to him probably applies to Bukharans as a whole. Its not that much, but still kinda unusual because one would expect it to be 0. You can make whatever conclusion from it you want.
When modeling you with Syrian (Syrian Arab + Syrian Jew), your fit also improved considerably:Quote:

If there's additional MENA input into Samarkand-Bukhara, then its probably the same case for the Tajik and Uzbek communities of North Afghanistan. Since Davidski has samples of them, maybe he can upload it to G25. Then it would improve your modeling.Quote:

I used Syrian above because Tajiks have some Iranian ancestry and thought it would be a good indicator of excess MENA ancestry. But I tried another run with both Syrians and Iranians:
Now another one without Syrians (weirdly enough no Tajik was picked up):Quote:

Notice that when West Asian populations are used, your fit improves a whole lot. Since Bukhara and Samarkand were considered very important cities during the Iranian Intermezzo, my guess is Bukharans and Samarkandis just have excess Iranian ancestry. It'd be interesting to see if how similar your Bukharan side is to the North Afghanistani Uzbeks if Davidski uploads them.Quote:

Samarkandi Tajik:
Spoiler!
Is around 25% East Eurasian. You get ~10% East Eurasian. This is probably mainly cause you're half-Russian, but keeping in mind that Russians (especially Volga Russians) get some EE, your father is probably 15-20% EE which is in the Tajikistani Tajik range.
Also, your Med seems very high, and your SW Asian is also a bit higher than average. You have almost 10% more Med than the Samarkandi. Your father may or may not be a typical Bukhara Uzbek, but have you have tried asking him if there's any recent non-Uzbek/Turkic ancestry in your family?
