Moldovan/Romanian GEDmatch Results v2

If it's an old mix shared by the entire community or most members of it, then the person is considered pure/full/unmixed. If it's recent (2-3 generation ago) and not characteristic of most of the community, then it's a mixed person. At least that's how I'd describe it. Like my mother for instance. Obviously she's not a full Slav from the Dniepr area but she is a full Russian without known foreign ancestry. What kind of mixing happened there centuries ago is another question and unimportant in terms of ethnic/national identity.

That's the thing, it's not characteristic for the entire community from there. Even though some of them are unmixed, it is obvious that some kind of assimilation happened in their localities to differentiate them genetically from people from the same region.

Mate, when we have confirmed people of Moldovan and Slavic heritage from the North, some of which were even given to me by you and Leto, score the same as some Moldovans from the same area then it is pretty clear that the latter group is far from being unmixed.


I disagree with you. The Southeast corner of Moldova is very homogeneous. Anyone who doesn't believe me (you obviously know that very well), zoom in there and look for the village of Caplani. The Southwest obviously has a higher share of minorities. In that aspect, it is similar to the North of the country.
And I shall also remind you that as Southern as they are, on average villagers in Caplani look in no way different from people in Briceni for example.

Which community are you talking about? That high Baltic Moldovan from the North? Pretty sure most people are like him unless they are transplants from other regions.

I'm not an expert in Moldova and Romania but I'd guess Southern MD being about as southern as Southern RO is kind of natural. One region simply being a continuation of the other.

Ei îs sudici că au gene sudice de la coloniștii balcanici, se vede și în mediile făute de tine pe regiuni. Expresia mea se referă la cum îi caracterizezi pe moldoveni în general, centrul și nordul nu au așa diferențe mari genetice, numai sudul, fără el moldovenii îs destul de omogeni, ceea ce nu-i de mirare.
