Not necessarily, as some arrived recently from various parts of Ukraine and Russia (as in the past 100 years). But those with traceable family from the Moldovan countryside are indeed similar to highlanders.

Those in red are rural. The first red one, the last red one and the last black one are from Transnistria, but all the ancestors of the first one were born just nearby in Ukraine, like 10km off of Transnistria.

I made a quick conclusion naming this guy Gagauz/Bulgarian because of his results, he clearly is not.

What is the settlement history of Caplani and Stefan Voda District? Was Caplani part of Budjak?

Someone told me that people in Caplani might be "Moldovanized Bulgarians."

I posted his results already, and surnames of his four grandparents. He is from South.

I managed to miss that somehow. So he's ethnic Moldovan/Romanian, but russified (assuming from forename)? Those surnames seem to point at Leova or Cantemir. Do you know the district(s)?

Yes, this village is located in Budjak, by surnames they don't look like assimilated Bulgarians, but such village exist in that area, and is seen in popular surnames carried by inhabitants.

Don't Moldovans have mostly Orthodox/Slavonic given names? How is that Russification then?

I don't think he is russified, Lemgrant gave me his results a year and three months ago, is before I saw all these result posted after this here, and I quickly made a conclusion what he is Gagauz because of results, and surnames of his grandparents, but now since I know more, his result clearly show what he is not Gagauz/Bulgarian with such high Baltic, and have just mixed ancestry.

The spelling is different, although for older people it is not uncommon to find the Russian spelling, due to the trends of the Soviet times.
