Japan also gived things for Ukraine, and this is the reality. Ukraine would die without support, the american aid was also very limited btw.
Seeing the current situation, yeah this is the best choice. Much better than a totally abandoned, ruined country. But this is just the current situation, we should go back to the begining. I have some questions:
1. Why did the ukrainian opposition parties make a putsch against a democratically elected president? The modern ukrainian political history was about the alternation of pro-russian and pro-western governments, they came one after the other. Why did make a bloody putsch instead of waiting for the next election?
2. Why the ukrainian elite wants to be part of NATO? The NATO membership is not needed to be part of West, many western country like Austria, Switzerland etc are not NATO member. Putin was not against the ukrainian EU membership, source:

So Ukraine had chance to be part of West in peaceful way.
3. Why the West promised full support of Ukraine if they knew very well, that they will not do that and Ukraine is not so important that Taiwan? Why did they lie for ukrainians?
There is misunderstanding here. Ukrainians are fighting to be part of NATO, not to be part of West or independence or anything. The last two was available for Ukraine and they were independent as well. My last question:
4. Is a NATO membership really worth this huge destruction? I think no, and the main reason of this war is the NATO joining.
