that spans the valley of the River Tarn near Millau in southern France.
Designed by the French structural engineer Michel Virlogeux
and multiple award-winning English architect Norman Foster.
The Millau Viaduct is the world's tallest bridge with one mast's summit
at 343.0 metres (1,125 ft) above the base of the structure.
It is the 12th highest bridge deck in the world,
being 270 metres (890 ft) between the road deck and the ground below.
Millau Viaduct is part of the A75-A71 autoroute axis from Paris to Béziers and Montpellier.
Construction cost was approximately €400 million.
It was formally inaugurated on 14 December 2004,
and opened to traffic on 16 December.
The bridge has been consistently ranked as one
of the great engineering achievements of all time.
The bridge received the 2006 International Association for Bridge

Mont Saint-Michel is an island commune in Normandy, France.
It is located approximately one kilometre (0.6 miles) off the country's northwestern coast,
at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches.
100 hectares (247 acres) in size, the island has a population of 44 (2009).

The island has held strategic fortifications since ancient times,
and since the eighth century AD has been the seat of the monastery from which it draws its name.
The structural composition of the town exemplifies the feudal society that constructed it:
On top, the abbey and monastery; below this, the great halls; then stores and housing;
and at the bottom, outside the walls, fishermen's and farmers' housing.
One of France's most recognisable landmarks, Mont Saint-Michel
and its bay are part of the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites
and more than 3 million people visit it each year.
