High fantasy, or nonfiction
I read mostly horror when I was a kid. It's redundant in this horrific world, so I read just nonfiction now.
I did the horror stories as a kid myself. Clive Barker has always been above Stephen King, I had a high school teacher who told me if I wanted to read something really scary to read Kafka's "In the Penal Colony". She was right and sent my intellectual curiosity down a path that has permanently changed (or warped) me.
I'm still a horror guy, even if most of my time is spent elsewhere. Shudder is one of my streaming channels. The last film I saw in a theater was that godawful Exorcist perversion last October. I did race out and see all the "saw" movies opening weekend, even though none of them were very good. "Silent Hill" is my favorite game franchise, even if I have spent far more hours playing Zelda or Final Fantasy,
Basically, I'm not well at all.
Cosmic Horror and Dystopian.
You're not well? I bet that you look like the epitome of good emotional health compared to me. I read Stephen King books in junior high school. At some point, I got into conspiracy books and paranormal tomes, but many people would put both genres in the fiction category.
My guess is that you share my interest in true crime. I also like weird stuff like "Insane Kings" and "Psychopathic Popes", and these kinds of books often are relegated to bargain bins, so even some coffee table tomes are dirt cheap just like antique CDs at Walmart. There's still something to be said for hard copies, even though I'm almost exclusively a 'net addict. We could have a real "Fahrenheit 451" if things don't change.
I have at least 3000 CDs. 2500 are classical. I do read Stephen King books but not with the same fervor as Clive Barker. I know never to mention J.G. Ballard to too many people. When it comes to movies, no one ever let me pick them out.... "It is a chimpy film. No one else will like it."
For whatever reason, my favorite true crime YouTube channel is "that chapter". The guy is Irish and I like his style.

Social Drama by far.
I received no notice that you replied to my comment. It must be the gremlins again. That aside, I'm not much into horror or science fiction these days, but I still have a soft spot for the old Hammer and Universal monster movies, as well as the Roger Corman/Vincent Price Edgar Allan Poe films. The George Pal fantasy flicks can be fun too.
I've got a weird thing for those devil sect movies too. Some are really cheesy and corny, and they seem as dated as mood rings and pet rocks, but they're fun to watch. I imagine that the satanic cult are pursuing me in a car chase while I'm escaping their attempted sacrifice of me. Some kids called me Damien in high school.
