I know la reunion had slavery, its close by.

Ive seen a possible ancestor cousin that went over there from latin america with slaves and his creole children.

That is surprising to hear, I wasn't aware of Latin American presence in the Mascarene islands

Réunion is strongly linked to Mauritius and they have a similar history. Though Réunion being a modern day French territory has more French cultural input

I know the french west india company or east company probably has to do with connection from la reunion and french carribean areas. I don't know if the possible ancestor cousin had anything to do with french indian companies though. But it doesn't seem likely.
