Could be from Saxons. They were probably more celtic(western) autosmally than germanic(northern). Also there are more and more new ydna results that show that. There was an estimated 50,000 Saxons that emigrated, including women children and were all assimilated. The locals hated them because they were treated like Royalty by the King. One privilege that the Saxons enjoyed made them especially unpopular with their neighbors - they had to right to seize anything they needed from any house without providing compensation. In case of Russsia it is probably Varangian borrowing, but for Balkans clearly Gothic with origin of the word in Scandinavia obviously.
