So much for them being ''dark'', it's a wildly exgaggerated notion, BS even.

Anyone noticed how this guy is always the first image in any Google search of Welsh people?

What the hell?
I've not been to Wales, but from what I have seen on the Internet, the Welsh are quite similar to the English, Irish and Scottish. The Mediterranean influence is probably higher among the Welsh, but even so, as a group, this Welsh team passes much better in England than in France, let alone Southern Europe.

Not that simple. Wales has internal differences irrelevant of the English. North Wales is less Anglicised than the South, but lighter.
Aled Jones (the most famous Welsh male singer) is from NW Wales, the most Welsh speaking part of the country. Most North Welsh look similar to English from across the border in the West Midlands and North West, in my experience.

Yes, it is a stupid stereotype though. I guess it is the English people's fault. They always portrayed the Welsh as some "dark" folk. The ancient Anglo-Saxons hated the Welsh, because they resisted them. Actually "Welsh" means "foreigner" or "stranger". I guess they were so in the eyes of Germanics who came from the forests.
Hey! The modern Welsh have one of highest ratios of skin phototype I and II in the world, also very high ratios of pure red hair. In these two aspects they are lighter than the English. Wales is also not the least blue-eyed region in the British Isles, South West England is.
Most people today who portray the Welsh as dark are non-English. e.g. Google. And garbage Hollywood films like King Arthur. The same people who portray the Picts as permanently naked and painted blue in the depth of winter, or portray the the Medieval Scottish army as a rabble of Iron Age barbarians. The Romans were calling Welsh dark curly haired Iberian lookalikes long before England existed.
