Not true. Germans were forcing their ethnicity on others, applying forcible Germanisation policies. My home town's history is a good example, Germans were forcing kids at school to speak only in German, and kids started a school strike, which later spread over hundreds of schools in the entire region:

The very reason why people like Beeskow exist, is because such policies were being applied in many areas, and succeeded in some.
