Khamenei's male line is pure ethnic Turk. His grandfathers name was Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini Khamenei Tabrizi. His further up the lineage ancestors used Bayat surname as well. So he is an ethnic Azeri. If his son Mojtaba Khamenei follows him then Iran will once again be lead by another Iranian Turk. Pahlavi Shahs were Mazandarani with Georgian and Azeri female line. No one cares about ethnicity in Iran like they do in neighboring countries.

Being born somewhere means nothing. My cousins are born in LA from a white mother. They are still Azeri Turks with tribal surname and identity.

Iranian Azeris cluster closest to Kurds because of proximity and common Median Iranic ancestry that we share. Pre-Turkic Azeris have been sharing the region with NW Kurds for last 3000 years. We Azeris are proud Turks yes and we cherish our Turkoman ancestry but I am not a bigot who would deny the local genetic % that we have, which is very significant and connects us too well to our own soil. People lived in Azerbaijan before Turkic migration, where do you think they have gone? Azerbaijan is a classic case of minor on average (20-30 % I think) foreign genetic input + lingual shifting which is why we cluster close to our Median cousins Kurds. This stupid propaganda of Azeris being 100 % Mongol looking Turkic horse herder invaders with no civilization was started by ethno nationalists Persians living in US mostly (funded Shahi loyalists) and Elchibey fooled stupid illiterate azeri traitors (also not living inside Iran). Both types have failed and are dying a political death equivalent to MEK terrorists.

And no one said Azeris are Persians. People from Azerbaijan though, before and post Turkification had massive relations with Persians. First through Median input into the Achaemenid Persian elite and then post Turkification through Persian Wazir Nezam or Qayda that resulted from Seljuk-Samanid relations and got more prevalent during Safavid times. Kizilbas were not just Turkomans, they were also Kurdish, Persians, Lur, Talysh, Tats + Georgians as Ghilmans. Imagine the warrior order of Safaviyya being led by a Kurd man Sheikh Safi and later by his half Kurd and half Persian son Sheikh Musa Safavid (4 generations above Shah Ismail Safavid) and Turkoman tribes like Qajar, Shamloo, Afshar, Lurs like Zand with Persian Vakils above them etc all following him. Its a cultural symbiosis on massive scale which is why Kizilbas were invincible and never lost Iranian territory to Ottomans who were themselves invincible in Europe but failed against Iran. Same tradition is existent inside Iran to this day which is why Baathist Arabs with support from global powers failed in causing ethnic rifts in Iran. Kurds are Iran_N heavy. Iran_N itself was CHG heavy. What are you talking about ? Iran_N is like the base core ancestry that connects almost all Iranic ethnicities to each other.

Turkism in Iran is mainly driven by Progressivism and Liberalism (although Meson don't like to hear it)
While in the last couple of years it got heavily influenced by Turkish Nationalism. Which puts a lot of Nationalistic Iranian Turks off out of fear of being too much influenced by foreign powers.

My dream scenario (utopic) would be a more autonomous region, with more cultural & personal rights and friendly connections to both Iran & Turkey.

I am sorry but I disagree. Let alone liberalism, Azeris of Iran are traditionally more fanatic shias then even Persians. We started Kizilbas Nezam not Persians. We converted whole empire population to Shiite. We massacred Sunni Turkish armies multiple times. Even in modern times Half of the anti Shah revolutionary Mullahs were Azeris and even today its same. Turk in Iran means Iranian federation nationalist like Sattar Khan and hardcore Shia like Khamenei.

Who in their proper senses would honestly believe that massively Shiite population of Iranian Azerbaijan would join up with traditional enemy Sunni Anatolians or even Soviet style secular state of Republic Azerbaijan ? We have had bloody history with Ottoman Turks who historically have held some massive hatred towards us. They tried to burn Tabriz (failed), they caused famine in Azerbaijan which killed 2 million Azeri Turks. People do not forget that easily. With neo ottoman islamism returning to Istanbul and keeping Iraqi example in mind, I think there are rather higher chances of 70-75 % Shia Republic Azerbaijan becoming a massively allied state to Iran in future which is more natural. No one would have predicted secular to core Iraq's future during Baathist Saddam's rule either but see what happened in name of faith.

I would not degrade white females by calling them words like that. Its a liberal world we live in, its up-to the child what he chooses to identify as when he/she grows up but imagine someone who celebrates eid e nowroz and is called Reza, would he really be considered white ?
