As far as Kurds and Pakis looking similar (especially baloch pashtuns and Kurds) its just based on all the people i met and have seen online. I have also seen on this forum and some forum (don’t remember which one) that people confuse the two and guess wrong as to who is Kurd vs Pakis.

Also when I go out with my Kurdish friends and relatives to Paki restaurants or shops people start speaking to us in Urdu thinking we are one of them. Same thing when a couple of my Paki friends used to come to out Kurdish parties the Kurds eould speak to them in Kurdish thinking they are Kurds . A couple of my close female relatives in American schools The kids always used to think that they are Indians lol

Anyways since you asked I think I’ll post some pictures of Kurds and Pakis and let’s see how many people here will gas them correctly . It should be fun. Although my guess is that some of the people here will not try to guess because they’re wiil be worried about guessing wrong, but that’s fine because by not guessing we can surmise that those people who always say they can tell Kurds or MENAS apart from Pakis are full of crap :) But I suppose I can also be wrong and that those people may have sharper eyes than I do

I have seen samples of Northeastern Iranians while they tend to be somewhat different than west Iranians, they are not similar to the Persians (Tajiks) of Northern Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan either. There is no uniformity of genetics it seems in what used to be the greater Khorasan region.

Herat and Balkh are an interesting case because of the regions history and its proximity and shared history to Iran.

But yes, I like to see more samples from Northeastern Iranians and Northern Afghanistan because of the closeness of history of the region, it would be interesting to see samples from east of Tehran all the way to the Tajiks of Northern Afghanistan.

Khorasanis speak a dialect thats extremely close to Dari and some of them even identify as Tajiks. I believe what happened was Tajiks mixed with the remaining Iranian population and created this unique distinction between west and east iranians. Thats why theyre not similiar to either population. Its the same with Heratis because many of them can not only speak with a Dari accent, but with an Iranian one too.

Ok i kind of see where you’re coming from. Haduken posts pictures of kurds from his area. Some of them overlap the Iraqi kurds from my family but many don’t. He himself has said Iraqi kurds look foreign to him. By Pakis i’m including all types of pashtuns and balochis too. Actually some of his pictures do overlap pashtuns and Balochis.

But ok the challenge is on and maybe you do have an extra sharp eye. We shall see :) I’ll post some pics of random Pakis and kurds some from my family and some from my area with a poll and ask to say which are kurds and which are pakis.

Now don’t wimp out on me because if you don’t guess I’ll assume you can’t tell the difference. This is your chance to prove me wrong. I’ll make sure the pics i post are verifiable. Good luck.

well i am not denying we doesnt look same specie , you can feel assocaition to Pakistan as much as you want afterall Pakistan is indo iranian heartland with Gandhara and IVC, but these forums attract very immature people who might think you are trying to darkwash kurds and think i want to whitewash pakis , i dont want such comments , personally i think iraqi arabs are more deserving of your assocaition as your country has lot of fractured faultlines.

The Pakistanis are South Asians and considered Asian in the US and UK. Someone who is half Paki half European is considered mixed race. The Kurds are West Asians and counted as white in the US because the ME & NA region is included in that category. Kurds have less South Asian in them than many Iranians of Iran, let alone South-Central Asians.
