I have met only 3 full Russian Jews in my entire life(they are Mediterranean)
.Every Russian I know is atleast 1/4 ethnic Russian.

My best Russian friends are-
2 people 50% Ethnic Russian, 50% Russian Jews
2 people 75% Russian (Europe&Asia), 25% Russian Jews (but they kinda dark skinned because of the Siberian side)
1 person 100% East Europe (Ukraine, Russia, Finland) 0% Jew.

Even some of my cousins aren’t full Jews (but the gentile side is Dutch not Russian).

You can not imagine how many racist jokes towards each other we have hahaaha:p

I am aware of the fact a lot of fake Jews emigrated from the Soviet Union to Israel in the late 80s and 90s. Many brought over spouses that weren't Jewish at all. Of course such people wouldn't feel close to, say, Yemenite Jews, Iraqi or even Sephardic.

Buying documents wasn't uncommon at all either in the former USSR. An acquaintance of my family was Jewish and married to a Lezgin woman, and they actually bought fake documents thus she is listed as an ethnic Jew despite being Lezgin and Muslim lol.

I don't understand why you think so.
We don't look at ethnicity when we choose our friends. We are together in School, afternoon circles, working places and ect.. It's only natural to develop friendships and relationships with our fellow homosapienses regardless of ethnic background.

Again one of my best friends is 100% Gentile and moved to Israel when she was 8 years old. Before moving here she was kinda anti-semitic (her family wasn't fan of Jews) but now all her friends are Jews and she even says that she prefer us (her Jewish friends of all backgrounds) over any non-Israeli Russian person.
Many Russian (not necessarily Jews) are mixing with Moroccan Jews and with many other types of Jews. There is even a song in Israel "Half Russian Half Moroccan"...

Feeling close to someone isn't just about Ethnicity, it's also about friendships, relationships...

Yep that’s true. Jewish groups differ greatly.
I find it hard to consider Jews as an ethnic group for that matter.

Is this within pure ashkenazi range or likely part sephardic?
