As far as I know, the term of Middle East was used first by "Alfred Thayer Mahan", a British strategist in 1902. Moreover this term only applied Arabian Gulf region at first. Later it's usage expanded to Levant, North Africa and Anatolia. If you check, in years of WW1, India was considered as a part of Middle East. To me, this term is not really reliable since it is vague and it got changed a lot. We can use, "West Asia" for that...
But still the question will stay, "if Turks are West Asian, are they white?"
Well, to me this question is still hard to answer. Anatolia had connection with tribes from Balkans and Europe(Thracians, Galathians, Phrigians etc.) so at real, this region has to do with Europe more than Armenia or Iran does. Not to forget recent connection with Balkans. However, Turks have significiant Central Asian mixture, that makes us less Caucasoid. But since "Central Asian mixture" is mentioned in one of choices in this poll, I voted, "no".
