I don't know why the previous Assyrian user Transhumanist claimed that Assyrians have a high percentage of J1 haplogroup.
The fact from a study conducted in 2017 on all ethnic groups of Mesopotamia by :
" Department of Genetics and Bioengineering, International Burch University, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2 Turkish Cypriot DNA Laboratory, Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus Turkish Cypriot Member Office, Nicosia (North Cyprus), Turkey, 3 Dr. Fazõl KuÈcËuÈk Faculty of Medicine, Eastern Mediterranean University, Famagusta (North Cyprus), Turkey, 4 Department of Biology, College of Education, University of Salahaddin, Erbil, Iraq, 5 Institute for Anthropological Research, Zagreb, Croatia"
show that Assyrians have 11.7% J1 haplogroup while Northern Iraqi Arabs have 36.61% followed by Kurds at 17.17%, Turkman at 12.37% and Yazidis have the lowest at 8.91%.
I am sure Central & Southern Iraqi Arabs have much higher percentage of J1 haplogroup than Northern Iraqi Arabs,
