OCCITANIA have no historical basis. Neither OCCITAN state ( a state covering the whole "domaine d'oc", ie" OC arera"), nor OCCITAN koïne ever existed. The Whole country spoke gallo-roman idioms. Not sure the Germanic impact made so much differences betweeen Septentrional Gallo-Roman and Merdional one.
On a genetic hand, of course there is French population substructure related to geography, like pretty much every where.
The trend Steppe vs EEF was already in place during the trabsition from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age. Nothing to do with language or Germanic impact.
