Well, even in Central Germany you had not cremated Haßleben Germanics forming a nobility cemetary and exhibiting textbook rich Elbe Germanic material culture (Haßleben-Leuna Gruppe) and they were very "Celtic" not to say "French" in their genetics. These folks were doubtlessly ethnically Germanic from all historical and archeological definitions.
