I find it rather interesting and coincidental that both your mother and father have the exact same Med%, 26.58. What is even more interesting and surprising is how high your SW Asian is compared to your parents, you came out with 2.03% coming from parents with 0.4% and 0.37% respectively. I'm not sure how that happens.

Yeah that is true, it is quite a strange phenomenon that happens on pretty much every calculator. Most of the SW Asian seems to come from my Grandmother (although my Grandfather has a bit too), although she is low on West Asian. Maybe i just happened to inherit more of those and got more than average for my family, while my Dad got less than average. What is interesting is that my Mother and my Aunt seem to have a bit of ancestry from southern or central Europe, and they almost always get none of that component, but increased Mediterranean and West Asian scores.

It could be something fairly distant on my father's side that pops up now and again perhaps?

I emailed Dr Mcdonald as well, still waiting to hear back from him, hopefully he will respond soon but I hear he is backlogged at the moment.

90.85% total European, which is the highest so far among the profiles in my group. 4.53% West Asian and 0 Southwest Asian, which is very low even for Europeans. So far, I'm quite impressed. There is however, a dark side, 2.77% South Asian and .75% East African are very high. Almost all Europeans have 10-20% non-European on this particular calculator depending on what part of Europe you are from, but it's usually some form of Middle Eastern, not South Asian and African.

I'm going to have to send this data file to Dr Mcdonald to see what he says about it.

The first thing you will probably notice when looking at my paternal grandfather's results, the South Asian 2.77% jumps out at you immediately. I know that is a very sky high percentage compared to other people with his ancestry. Most don't go over 2%. But he also has less West Asian and Southwest Asian than average and his total combined European score (E Euro+W Euro+Med) of 90.85% is not too low by any means. I don't know what to say whether these percentages give me the green light to accept my grandfather as German/French. Does this mean that he has recent gypsy or some other form of South Asian ancestry? Or is 10% of any kind of non-Euro ancestry normal for Europeans? At least now I know that he isn't Jewish given that there is no SW Asian and very low West Asian
