" We found an increase in ancestry related to populations from the Caucasus and Turks in the modern Lebanese population after the medieval period. Using admixture-induced linkage disequilibrium (LD) decay,47,48 we show that admixture occurred around 1640–1740 CE when Lebanon was under Ottoman rule (Figure S12). "

For example, in 1307 CE, the Mamluks divided Lebanon’s coast among 300 newly introduced Turkoman families,
Does any Lebanese result actually show this? In an old paper the same was said.Quote:
However, their genetic contribution is not as evident: our previous ancient DNA (aDNA) work showed that people who live in the Near East today derive ∼90% of their ancestry from the local Bronze Age population that preceded all of the aforementioned historical conquests.
ashkenazi jews are very mixed from their father side as well. very different haplogroups. and only minority of it is semitic / haplogroup E. Palestinians have way more native levant ancestry. Jewish in the end is a religion. Most jews dont look middle-eastern in their appearance.

However, like the other Levantines your fit becomes better when adding a North African-like sample, not sure how accurate this would be though.

Those 4 categories:
North Levant Iron Age
North Levant Bronze Age
South Levant Iron Age
South Levant Bronze Age
BTW I imagine by north we mean Syria+Lebanon and south Israel+Palestine+Jordania, also maybe it would be nice to add any Turkish samples that is within the region, if there are any, I need to check.
Where do you think the Mittani came from? They're Indo-Iranians and Indo-Iranians originated in Central Asia. Based on the fact this Central Asian was almost entirely BMAC with minor Steppe, it was probably either some BMAC concubine that the Mittanis brought with them or one of the Mittanis that didn't have much Steppe admix.
Edit: Never mind. You were referring to the minor SC Asian admixture that came during the combined Persian and Greek rule.
You must be having an hard time without this!

If you want to thrace back the sample to a study, you can go to the list with the list of individual samples and check the name of the sample, they should guide you to the study if you ever need more precise data.
They’ve found my mtdna in Alalakh, I just noticed this now, dated to 1613-1461 cal BCE (3260 ± 24 BP, MAMS-33699). This would be either the Hittite or Mitanni period of the region.
