Personally I see no reason to assume he's near to Burgenland. Austrians from Burgenland are genetically less German than him and Eastern Transdanubia was more settled by Germans than the Western part. They settled mostly along the river Danube, that's why they are called "Danube Swabians".
Looks like a Saarland/Pfalz/BW/South Hessen result
