A particular of History that encapsulates my personal fondness for Ancient Rome: Caesar's renown as a writer (specifically his melding of the historically momentous with elegance and brevity par excellence (or so the Latin scholars say (I have only experienced passages translated into English)) and the various tangents and connotations one can follow from it..
I am a fan of both Egypt and Mesopotamia. But Egypt had pyramids, mummies, and sphinxes so...
I like all except Romans. They destroyed Thrace and many nations as well.

Buncha euro-centrics
I prefer history than civilization...( There were S.S.A. tribes civilization.. Amazzonic civilization.. Viking civilization before 900 A.D. .. but to me it is difficult to consider them "civilization"....... as the majority of academics i prefer to call them primitive culture )
And there is no history without writting system..
