This kit is half West Ukrainian and half Moldovan/Romanian from R. Moldova. On the Ukrainian side there's also Polish admix, while on the Moldovan they are not sure if one great-grandparent was also Moldovan because of the Slavic-specific forename, which still looks pretty Moldovan to me since there are 3.8k of such names in the country. Judging by the K13 results, she scores close to the average of people that I know who are half Moldovan and half Slavic, be it Ukrainian or Russian.

She's not from IF though, but on the border with Slovakia, so probably Zakarpatiya. I am not sure if people there score like those in IF, but the Polish admix must be pulling her a bit to the North compared to the IF average, while the Moldovan side pushes to the South, and so overall she lands close to the IF average.

My merged kit (23andme + LivingDNA + MyHeritage) follows a similar pattern by the way, where it inflates North Atlantic and gives me Hungarians as close populations.

The guy from above is tested on MyHeritage however, so that does not occur because of the company the test was conducted with. It seems that sometimes K13 struggles with North Atlantic to Baltic differentiation. This is similar to how I noticed happens with East Med and Red Sea in some cases. Some users receive an abnormally low East Med and that gets compensated with an abnormally high Red Sea and in some cases also North African.

Run against the full K13 ancients spreadsheet for Apricity users from Moldova + my family. I think it's pretty consistent. We are pretty much all the same mix of ancient people, but in varying proportions. Mind you, the algorithm picks them out of a total of nearly 1800 samples. That's kind of sick, if you think about it.

You are really close genetically from the looks of it. The main difference is that he gets more East Med, whereas you get more West Med. By the way, I suggest using the "one-to-many" option on GEDmatch. You might be related to some of them, given that you have roots in the same or nearby locations.

I have received two kits today. First one is a very close DNA relative to the two Moldovan Romas from Calarasi at 110 cM. They must share a great-grandparent according to this relation. The individual comes from Nisporeni, which is next to Calarasi.
The second one is a match with my dad on MyHeritage. He is mostly from the town of Falesti, but with one grandparent from Rotunda, Edinet.

I believe you can take over now in making the Csángó average, these are already some unexpectedly numerous samples for such a small population. Like 5-6 of them could easily even pass as pure Hungarians, also I am wondering how could one of them have 34.11 North Atlantic, that seems kinda surreal for someone in that region?

Most Csángós today are assimilated into Moldavians culturally, but you can still pick them out from them by looking if they are of Roman-Catholic religion and have Hungarian-like names, even if written in Romanian. Also if they lean much more towards Székelys and Transylvanian Hungarians genetically, it's a solid sign that probably their parents, grandparents are Csángós.

Yes, they come from inside the Catholic (cyan) villages at the Eastern end in Neamt county, one is half from the Catholic village just outside in Iasi county.
And it is true that they see themselves as Romanians today, have Romanian names and Romanised surnames and most know only Romanian. But they are Catholic and aware of their origins, at least those who tested themselves.
The one with 34% grabbed my attention too when I was looking at it, especially considering the very low East Med value. These Csangos are from northern branch located northern of Roman city, where many of them are of old Hungarian stock.

Thanks, yes, that's definitely a sibling. I'll check with them.
Sometimes they like to inflate the Baltic, which drops the NA or viceversa. My mum's and brother's are similar in this regard.

So both of them are from Bucharest, which isn't telling much because Bucharest has people from all over Romania, Republic of Moldova, and beyond. My kits from Bucharest are very diverse. But I found this comment "Moldavians are the same with romanians, but my ancestry family is from Ucraine, Russia and far East Europe." and sent an email to check the origin. Could be the descendants of WW2 deportees.

Some kits from Botosani (2, 3 and 4 have Ukrainian surnames) and and one from Suceava (romanised Ukrainian surname (Botnar from Bodnar)).
Some of them look like Ukrainian mutts or even purely Ukrainian in one case. A similar situation probably is not uncommon in Republic of Moldova, where Ukrainian surnames are very frequent in people identifying as Moldovan in the North. According to the spread of such surnames, this should be more common in Dniester-neigbhouring districts like Drochia, Soroca, Floresti, Donduseni, Soldanesti than those along Prut, where there is a notable diversity in Moldovan/Romanian surnames.Ukrainian surnames like Melnyk (Melnic), Lesnyk (Lisnic), Dontsov (Dontov), Belous, Tkach (Tcaci), Chumak (Ciumac), Kushnir (Cusnir) are popular along the Northern parts of the Dniester. To them add the numerous variety of smaller Ukrainian surnames ending in "-ic, uc, iuc, ac, co" or Russian ending in "-ov, in". These are very obviously non-Moldovan to any Moldovan.
