So just for fun today I created a Tinder account with only one photo - the FaceApp female version of me. I said I'm a medical student and that I like dogs and cats. That was 3 hours ago. In a several sessions of swiping I have 21 matches and over 100 men that have liked me. 6 men have messaged me so far.
Most female profiles don't have just one photo of face - they usually have full body photos, photos in exotic places, about 1/3 from my observation have bikini pics. So a decent looking girl with such pics most likely gets even more likes, matches and messages than my fake account.
So what experts say is right - unless you are alpha looking male, stay away from Tinder. Even if you get laid a few times (many don't) you still have boosted the ego of hundrends or thousands of girls needlessly. It's just a gallery of faces, where you are down to be another brick in the wall. Go out, be cool and even if things don't go as you wished, at least you saved a bit of eyesight, a bit of brain cells and there is a minimal chance that a girl out there finds out it requires a bit more than swiping right to know someone who is worthy.
