Bulgarian Gedmatch from Western Thrace

Hello,

His ancestors were from predominantly from Western Thrace with possibly Eastern Thrace roots. They migrated to Bulgaria after the population exchange between Greece and Bulgaria. His results shockingly similar with me except East Eurasian.

Yeah. If you include me i'm the lowest but it is not very suitable to evaluate in mixed people. I think this result is very interesting. He is on the endpoint of Slavic ethnicities. My Turkic line probably mixed with these people and my Pomak side is already similar them.

I realized. His all known ancestors are Bulgarian and only Bulgarian speaker. He is Orthodox and has Bulgarian name. There is no clue to trace remarkable Turkic ancestry.

The people in Eastern Thrace who identify themselves as Bulgarian clearly distinguish from Greeks and they got Bulgarian as closest population because they lack high med and NA scores. We need more results to make more clear comments. I agree they have less NE but still Bulgarian range imo.

On the sea coast of Strandzha, like Tsarevo and Ahtopol, there is high possibility of Greek ancestry. In the inland there weren't many Greeks, today there are very few people left in this region.

Most places on the southern Black sea coast are home to many refugees from Western and Eastern Thrace, however many migrated to Burgas, which is the closest big town. Today half of the population of Tsarevo is gypsies, not sure for the other towns like Primorsko and Ahtopol.

Exactly. While most Greeks left for Greece during the population exchange after WW1, some stayed and assimilated. There are two famous musician from Pomorie who are of partial Greek ancestry

As for the coast of Strandzha - it used to be inhabited mostly by Greeks until 100 years ago. 90% of Bulgarians living on the southern coast are from elsewhere. Strandzha as a whole - not more Greek than the rest of Bulgaria.

I think these results indicate ancient Thracian ancestry. Some Bulgarians have more Paleo-Balkanic than Slavic ancestry and these results have also Paleo-Balkanic and not Slavic paternal lineage.
