Southern Cone dictatures were positive, specially Pinochet in Chile; in Argentina la Junta Militar disgraceufully could't reach a todos economic poind and nowadays the country suffers the consequences, because the economic shock that Argentina needs can't be done in democracy.
Central American dictatures were a continuation of banana republic governments, as the actual democracies. But these countries doesn't deserve another thing, the population is what it is, non-capable of reaching a peaceful society and a prosperous economy.
But my favourites ones are the dictatorships of the 50's: Pérez Jiménez in Venezuela and Trujillo in Dominican Republic.
