I agree with him, at least to an extent. Much 'addiction' is simply weak-will and an internal refusal to change. I've seen it in my own father, an addictive personality.

Absolutely but it doesn't change the fact that it's a mental illness and should thus be treated as one.

Personally, I think there are various genres of Addiction.
