Africa's plentiful low-wage labour just makes it seem inevitable that eventually the "global factory" will move there from East Asia. Three (Rwanda, Senegal, Ethiopia) of the five fastest growing economies are in Africa. In a few years time, Mexico won't even have a sustainable population and will be aging rapidly. Mexico's largest industry is car manafacturing, and there is a global shift of auto production to India.
The Mexican Drug War risks going the way of the Colombian conflict as the cartels increasingly have a political affiliation. Some present themselves as religious-conservative, others as socialist etc. None of Africa's ongoing conflicts are currently claiming anywhere near as many lives as the Mexican Drug War.
