Bump
Dont really someone know sonething about him? According wikipedia he is a member of a famous arab tribe. Its interesting because he was born in a village in the near of the homevillages of my mother, this village is of the same tribe and origin like my mothers villages.
The only source while claim for Arab theory is Ibadi dominance in Karaman in that time period. This is a post-evaluated case by non-Turkish sources, connects a mix of humanitarian and Islamic views to the Ibadism, yet we have no source if they were really Ibadi or not. Even if they, for example, Edebali is educated in Şam, it might be nonsense to make him Arab directly.
Thank you for your answer, that sounds logical. I mean i would believe in if he would be Persian, but Arab? There were people from Chorasan who migrated to Kirsehir, also Iranics( especially officials, clergy and philosopher). Also this village is one of the oldest turkoman settlement in that region.
Worth to mention that the research(source of the claim) was made by a Brit in 1870s. One should think conditions of that time period also.
Also, "İslam ansiklopedisi" doesn't mention Ibadism among early Anatolian Turks at all while foreign sources accept Karaman region as such around 1450s(based on the research I stated). If they were really, then there is a chance. But the questions are how and why can it happen? Why Turkish sources ignores claimed newly emerging sect in Karaman?
Thats the point. Turkish sources are accurate, if there were an arab or a movement like a sect they had mentioned that. Sone sources claim he was born in Merv. I don’t really know whether it is true that hecwas born in Kirsehir, but the oeople of this village are very proud of them that he was born there.
Edebalı was a Turcoman. His grandpa was Mustafa Kahya, grandma was Selvi Kadın, father was İbrahim Kahya, mother was Urkuş Hatun and uncle was Temir. Also he had his own tent clan in İnaç.
