I have been tempted to consider myself British, since I am majority Irish and Scottish ancestry living in an extension of the British Empire and Anglosphere. I know there are plenty of British who would probably be disinclined to recognise me as such, but it seems to me that Americans whose ancestry comes chiefly from the islands or entirely from the islands are part of the broader British identity. British is, after all, a cultural tendency rather than an actual national identity.
You have mine Magister Eckhart.
Myself; I find the poll difficult to make reply to. Sense when is not Cornwall, but another of the English counties? We always considered ourselves ENGLISH. I'll go for Cornish and British on the poll, but it is no different than the other counties.:wink
This poll also depends on how many English members are here, how many Scottish here, etc. If trying to determine how many of each group identify as British, I'd have made a separate poll for each group.
Right. But the people of Cornwall need not be separated from the rest of England. It was lost to the Welsh many years ago. It is an English county, despite a minorities disaffection. My opinion.
They all might go for British, as anyone in any particular American state would vote American.:wink
I came crawling out of an English woman's womb, and I will crawl back into English soil when time decrees it.
I'm British when I wish to travel abroad.
