The V-Dem Electoral Democracy Index measures the principle of electoral or representative democracy, including whether elections were free and fair, as well as the prevalence of a free and independent media.

The UK only scrapes into the top twenty and Ukraine is not drastically better than Russia. Also, why is Iceland ranked so much lower than the other Nordic countries?
Democracy only works in small ethnically homogenous countries.

These "democracy and freedom" (or "free press ratings" Etc) are just another tool of the USA to demonise other countries so its citezens feel they have the moral high ground when they decide to perform a coup or invade.
They don't care about democracy, a south americain county voted democratically for communism (cant remember who) during the cold war which lead to a coup.
There is no democracy in western countries, its a total illusion.
