Racism is ingrained in Victoria, says minister

Victoria’s Aboriginal Affairs Minister says the state’s systems of government, education and justice are still burdened by ingrained racism and “informed by a dark shadow from our past”.
As the state embarks on a nation-first process to “tell the truth” about Indigenous suffering, minister Gabrielle Williams has told The Age she believes Victorian society is “underpinned by a series of assumptions” that continue to harm Indigenous people.
