Yeah, I get you mate. But the OP question is why are Northern Italians lighter than Iberians if they are genetically more southern/eastern shifted. It's not meant to imply that Northern Italians are nordics and Iberians a bunch of woggy Mediterraneans, just that why genotype and phenotype do not correlate in this case (I think it's not just this case).
What would be your opinion on that? I already gave my input, and I thought that solar irradiation/sunshine hours can make Iberians a little bit more tanned on average, due to 80% of the living in the southern half and insular Spain, but of course it doesn't mean that Spain is the Sahara and that Italy is Iceland. Besides, Italy has a lot of overlappings with other Germanic and Slavic Central European populations the country shares borders with, while Spain lies entirely in Southwestern Europe, so that could be a reason too.
